Bolton will be without striker Kevin Davies for up to three weeks after he chipped a bone in his foot.

Davies sustained the injury in The Trotters' FA Cup tie against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Despite playing on for the remainder of the game, the extent of the damage to his foot has been revealed.

Sam Allardyce could be lacking numbers up front after fellow striker Nicolas Anelka was forced off in the first half against Charlton on Wednesday.

Anelka is a major doubt for the weekend trip to Watford, so Kevin Nolan may have to be deployed in an attacking role again.

The Bolton captain moved up front following Anelka's withdrawal and could be set for an extended run in the position.

"I'll do a job anywhere for this club and I'll do it to the best of my capabilities," Nolan told the club's official website.

"I can play that role as well as playing in midfield. I was quite surprised (when I was moved forward) because I haven't played there all season."

El Hadji Diouf will return against The Hornets after serving a suspension, while Wednesday's goalscorer Henrik Pedersen may get a further chance in his favoured striker role.

Nolan has labelled the game against Watford a must-win after Bolton went all of January without claiming three Premiership points.

He said: "It's a tricky away game but three points is a must now because our last four games have been a disaster and we should have a lot more points.

"The minimum requirement on Saturday is we've got to go there and work hard, and if we do that then we can get three points."

Based on last night, Nolan is not the answer. He looked even more lost than normal.

With the Greek getting dragged off after 58 mins, it looks like Sam agrees that he ain't the answer either.

Will Sam go with Peders and Diouf in a 4-4-2 or maybe give Vaz Te a start in the normal 4-3-3?

I'm with Cassie on Stelios - the man is simply inaffective. Reckon Anelka'll be back on Sat anyway.

Davies blow for Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers Football Club will be without Kevin Davies for around three weeks.

The striker picked up a chipped bone in his foot during the 1-1 FA Cup draw at Arsenal at the weekend, and his absence is likely to see Kevin Nolan pushed into an attacking role.

"I'll do a job anywhere for this club and I'll do it to the best of my capabilities," Nolan told the club's official website.

"I can play that role as well as playing in midfield. I was quite surprised (when I was moved forward) because I haven't played there all season."

(from the official site):Meanwhile, Nicolas Anelka (dead leg) and Abdoulaye Faye (hip) are major doubts ahead of Saturday's trip to Watford after sustaining knocks during Wednesday night's draw to Charlton Athletic.

More bad luck.

Is there are harder player in the Premiership? Plays against Charlton with a fractured cheekbone and then against Arsenal with a broken foot.

Homo: if you are going to post this, you can't just put "ah feck" and expect everyone to read it. Hence, someone else is going to post the same news until a thread called "Davies out for 3 weeks" is posted. Think about it...

I don't think he Harsanyi chance of playing.

I would play Diouf, Peders and that Harsanyi. The only reason I would play that Slovakian kid is because Vaz Te and Stelios are so sh1te and Nolan isn't at his best there. Sam says the kid has pace and likes to run at defenders so where better to give him a chance than at Watford. If it's not working out then bring Stelios or Vaz on at half time.

Have we not got a young goalkeeper we can throw in up front?

It worked a treat last season.

Didnt he not go to FC SCUM?

Didnt he not go to FC SCUM?

No, he did. He wears a Wanderers shirt under his Munich fatigues and flashes his Wanderers ink when the Stretford deserters sing "Ashton, Ashton show us your tat".

Apparently.
