oh its the man hunt of nicky yet again (can you see what i did there). but on the point of jussi it was only a yellow cause he was jumping with his hands by his side and there were defenders behind him so he was not the last man.

Got to say that I thought Nicky has played better over the past few games, but his distribution today was absolutely dire ..... and if we had conceded at the death it would have been completely his fault.

lets for once not talk about nicky hunt after a game hes in the team the team won and kept a clean sheet with him in the defence thats all we need to worry about.

maybe so but acording to sam hes worthy of being in the team, there is no one better availeble to take his place at the moment he is far from the worst right back in the world its one of the hardest possisions to play and nicky has the miss fortune of also looking like the hunch back of notradam whitch makes him look even worse than he even is. granted his passing is not the best and his positional play could do with improving but he gets up and down the flank well and puts some very good crosses into the box.

Sorry Ani but I don't think people are just picking on Nicky for the sake of it. I for one have given him plenty of praise when he has played well this season. He has put in some very good performances and made numerous goal saving blocks / challenges.

 

BUT yesterday his distribution was extremely poor. On numerous occasions when he was unchallenged he made passes which weren't within 30 yards of a white shirt. The pass which led to Jussi handling the ball was ridiculous and I would have been furious if they had scored.

 

I won't get on his back when I'm at a match but I can sure as hell point out his faults here. Out of interest where do you think Sam should be looking to strengthen in the summer?

Honestly in the summer i think our priority should be central midfield.

 

speed has been brilliant but can not go on for ever, campo and nolan lack 'legs'.

 

if we go out and sign a better fullback brilliant, but untill we do i do not see the point of some people seemingly watching the game to see if NH makes a mistake so they can post it on here.

 

he gets fcuk all credit for his part of what is a very solid defence.

the big problem is with the hole nicky hunt thing is now that so many people have jumped on the band wagon and just get on his back for the slightest little thing he does wrong. on wednesday the ball bounced in front of him and he miss jundged the bounce so he couldnt head it as cleanly as he would like. flolowing this almost every crettin in the ground boos him. two minutes later gardner hits a ball 70 yards straight out of play for what seems like at least the 10th ocasion of the night and not a peep out of anyone.

 

nicky hunt just gets abuse for the sake of it now and its just pethetic and inbarasing to have to listen to people call him for nothing

Hunt's distribution is poor, but his defending seems to have improved this season.

A defender's primary task is to defend: distributoin is secondary and often a bonus.

Our league position tends to suggest he's defending well enough.

Big Sam rates Nicky Hunt because he does what he's told, even if half his balls up the line go out, by whacking it up the line he's doing what he's told

 

Ben Haim on the other hand, despite being a very good player, drives Sam mad because he will not do what he's told and takes far too many risks

 

and that is why Hunt gets the nod over other players and Ben Haim is not first choice centre back at the moment

same lad will also know that boltons fullbacks are told to show wingers inside

 

and sometimes it results in a goal, but the stats say more often it won't

Yes at times Hunts distribution is poor, but how many times does anybody give an option other than a ball down the line!! As mentioned Hunts main job is to defend and his covering is very good and hes always available as an outlet on the right. Hes not the greatest but we have had worse!!

As for Jussi how the feck was it hand ball his hands were by his side!! Styles is on his arse

Made me p1ss my sides at Doncaster that, and I've had it in my head ever since.

 

I don't mind Nicky Hunt, I do think he is probably the worst player in the starting 11, but it is becasue we have such a good team. In summer I would like to see us strengthen the right-back position but until then Nicky will still be part of a very good back 4 and people should lay off him.
