I couldn't believe the people calling Nolan. Neither of the Kevs played all that well today but in my opinion we're a better team with both of them playing. Unfortunately I think the season has caught up with Speed and Campo. Personally I don't think we can keep both of them in the team and reckon Sam should drop one of them and bring in Andranik.

 

Oh and our support today was pathetic.

Spot on about Hunt. Absolute disgrace, how many goals has he cost us. We can't expect champ league place with the likes of him in our side. He balls up was the turning point in the game. Hopefully we won't see him in a white shirt again.

Throw it away? You watched a different game from me. How can a team 'throw it away' when we were by far second best today? Yes the first goal was an absolute rank piece of defending but it was only going to be a matter of time before Arsenal scored, and scored again. We were lucky not to lose by more.

Erm, call me stupid but 1 nil up is throwing it away. Like I go on to say, the better team won no doubt but if we played like we did at Wigan or against Everton we were good for a point today.

Have you been to a game this season, Nolan has had a poor season by his own standards, especially today.

was at game myself - for what it's worth a few of my points

 

1. Did we really have aspirations of Champs Lge? Would be delighted with UEFA spot & as disappointing as y/day was, for me it was not a season defining game

 

2. Chelsea win today & 7th place gets UEFA

 

3. Reading at home is Must Win game & was before yesterday. Will beat Villa and Hammers are doomed so we have a fantastic chance

 

4. Hunt started okay but was badly at fault for the goal, Gardner was shocking but as posted earlier maybe a good pre-season will sort him

 

5. Even at 1-0 up we were awful for an hour - the midfield was overrun and if Arsenal had been on fire we would have been seriously mullered. The last half hour gave me hope and we played in a way that would have given us a chance of a point if that had been the shape all game

 

6. Nolan has not had a fantastic season but his workrate and commitment can never be questioned cannot understand booing him

 

7. Disagreed with Campo's sending off and BSA I did not think the 2nd was a booking looking at the replay - who am I?

Gotta agree there. The gap in the teams (or gulf) was in midfield. Our midfield could not win the ball, and when they did win it (often from a throw in) they lost it within seconds. Not surprising then that Arsenal created so many chances. Interestingly, when Andranik and Thompson came on and gave them less time on the ball we looked far more dangerous.

 

Had we lost 4-1/5-1 (very possible) then Hunt's mistake would have been forgotten.

 

I blame the midfield. Out of sorts, out of confidence and come 2007/8 maybe out of a job !!!! Sam, spend ?15M on the midfield and our back 4 will have less to do and won't be as exposed.

Main focus needs to be full backs someone to realisitcally push them for their positions or replace them! Hunt certainly isn't the bestr right back going and yes he makes silly mistakes but i don't think he's as bad as people make out! perhaps a proper right back to provide competition could give him that kick up the backside he's needed.

If you had been watching the games Nolan's workrate and stamina this season has been his worst since he started with the club. Captains can't be indispensable......and the manager has to see that dropping him would do him the power of good!! and might give him the kick up the backside he needs!!

Listen ere nob ed!( or the not very special one as i like to think of you) When we had a pint with Mr. Nolan in liverpool I asked the tight scouser to buy me a pint because I told him he was on 18 grand a week and I was on 18 grand a year. and what did he do in the pub in front of everybody? he said he had no cash on him and turned his pockets out like this
