June 10, 200719 yr then how come they want all players??? Surely they should be chasing the Messi's and Ronaldo's of the world instead of Diouff and Ben Haim I give allardyce no more than 1 season with his signings and who he has been linked with upto now, I think he has bit off more than he can chew, It must be nearly impossible to get top players to the frozen north with no European football to offer and to a club without a trophy for decades, I am enjoying watch the fat fook flounder round trying to get players interested in signing for the toon, and also a great possibility of a real big club coming in to nip Owen for a meagre 9 million, the grass is not always greener.

I hope you are right but fear you are wrong. The signings he has made thus far look pretty good - Viduka is unplayable when he is fit and on form (which admittedly is about 50% of the time) and Barton is a highly effective midfield goalscorer despite being an arse. If he signs Rozenhal and Ben Haim he will have along with Taylor a very solid central defence, something Newcastle have never had recently. They are looking good for a top 8 finish to me. The only ? is whether Allardyce can find the right tactics and style of play to satisfy the unrealistic expectations they have up there.
June 10, 200719 yr I just reckon we should take Owen off his hands in a swap for Haim if he rates him so much!!!!
June 10, 200719 yr Agree with Bristol Wanderer. I believe BSA will succeed at The Barcodes and despite no real love for NU fans because of their belief that they have a God given right to success (almost on a par to that of Spuds fans) I wish him well. Look at the players he brought in whilst with us, the trouble makers and those over the hill etc. and tell me that some of those signings didn't come off. Just because he is at a club that has historically been a big spending one does not mean he has to go out there and spend record amounts of cash to be successful. And August 31st is quite a long way off yet. Edited June 10, 200719 yr by Superwhite

And August 31st is quite a long way off yet. If someone in the eighties had said your manager of Bolton Wanderers and you have unlimited funds, what type of team would you buy with the money,I'd have gone for an attacking team like Man U rather than the defensive type like Chelsea and it seems Newcastle. If I had unlimited transfer funds in 2007 I certainly wouldn't buy Barton as he could quite easily disrupt the squad. Fighting in house isn't what the doctor ordered. I couldn't envisage going for Viduka at this stage in his career, though he's not a bad squad player. I'm not sure Newcastle will be up at the top next season as and would be disappointed with the signings so far were I a Newcastle fan. Barton wasn't that impressive for England or at the Reebok, nor even City. Personally I'd rather go for Ireland. He's going to be a class player.
June 10, 200719 yr I think allardyce will have a modicum of success, but it will not satisfy the geordies, top 6 and a good cup run will be as good as it gets, that is what he did at bolton and I see no reason for him to improve on that record with newcastle.
June 10, 200719 yr Newcastle will have another average season. Allardyce will last no more than 2 seasons there. There is no way they will win a cup competition in the nest few seasons.
June 11, 200719 yr They finished 7th a year ago with Roeder, and without Europe next season anything less than that would be poor.I think Allardyce would be sacked if he finished below 7th. Realistically with the money at Newcastle, the best they could achieve next season would be 4th behind United,Chelsea and Liverpool. Well a crap start for the barcodes. Surprise, surprise, Allardyce wants to go on a trip overseas. "Newcastle will head off on a foreign training break this summer to make up for an expected lack of pre-season friendlies."
June 11, 200719 yr They'll need to spend ?200m on players to be a top four club, it'll take Sam years to get it right (and will he get that long?).
June 11, 200719 yr im pretty happy with the signings so far. in fact i am very happy with viduka, and i think big sam will get the best out of barton, i would also be very happy with ben haim. very good start from big sam in my opinion. bit gutted he didnt go for keith gillespie though, great start for little sam eh!

When England fail to qualify, your new signings will be playing under a different manager after Sam says he needs a break from football before being anounced the new England boss. What goes around comes around

What goes around comes around thats exactly what notts county fans are saying to you. if sam does get the england job, it means he has done a great job for us, so every cloud.....
June 11, 200719 yr thats exactly what notts county fans are saying to you. if sam does get the england job, it means he has done a great job for us, so every cloud..... Can't do a great job in months which is when it will happen
June 11, 200719 yr Can't do a great job in months which is when it will happen time will tell, but i think you know as well as i do it wont. england will go foreign if/when maclaren fails i reckon (wenger?), but like i say time will tell.
June 12, 200719 yr geordie boy, come back on here when you have had 12 months of long throws and 1 upfront, and are hovering just above midtable, I can assure you now sam has left I feel like the sun is going to shine and we are going to return to trying to play football.
June 12, 200719 yr For fecks sake you can't get rid of these geordies. Big club my arse. It wasn't too long ago they were getting shite crowds in the old second division. Short memories. Everyone seems to think they have always got full houses. If you live up that way you have a choice of 2 clubs. The barcodes or the mackems and that is one of the only reasons they get decent crowds. Believe you me it isn't down to success on the pitch.
June 13, 200719 yr This might be unpopular on here but i think if newcastle can get a decent defence in front of given then they're on to a winner Given Right Back - Taylor - TBH - Babayaro Milner - Barton - Dyer - Duff Martins - Owen That side would do me fine! with players like Solano, Ameobi, Viduka, Emre, Butt and that Rozenhal fella in reserve it's looking pretty rosy if it all gels for them.

June 13, 200719 yr Babayaro.............he is poo, I would imagine he will be replaced fairly quickly
June 13, 200719 yr 2 up front???? Aye! This is more like it: .........................Given Solano....Ben Haim....Rozenhal....Ameobi ......................J Barton ..........Milner...................Dyer ...Duff....................................Martins ......................Viduka Owen injured, obviously.
June 13, 200719 yr The sage that is Gordon Sharrock reckons TBH is Chelsea bound. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/wanderers/w...helsea_move.php
