Backroom Team Defect

Well said Zico. Summed it up perfectly :good:

What Newcastle have done is advertise these 'speciality' jobs and like in any other job the likes of Mark Ford, Taylor, etc are entitled to apply for the post (totally legal) and have given notice to us like any other job hence they have probally given us a months notice whilst we try to fill the post here.

Pototo Head knew full well that they would apply as he would have had a word, they would have gone for an interveiw, been shown around the place, like what people would do going for any other job thus he keeps it legal and above board. We are dealing with a person who knows how to cover his back legally but like every other con man, sooner or later the past catches up with you.....and it will!!!

Apart from making them see out their 12 month notice periods on 'gardening leave' - as Gartside has indicated he is willing to do.

I think Garty actually wanted them to literally work their notice - not go on gardening leave. Which, I assume according to their contract, they should if required.

whilst i'm more for a gracious manager than an arrogant one, and very often cringed at some of the stuff he came out with, what he did with bolton is up there in the greatest mangerial achievements of the last 20 years

Don't disagree with your general direction (and I'm not rubbishing BSA's achievements) but Rioch took us from the 3rd level to Premiership, FA Cup quarter-final and League Cup final in 3 years. That was a great achievement too. And the style of football wasn't bad - I still love watching the League Cup 3-0 win at Ipswich etc. If Brucie had stayed on instead of being tempted to Highbury ...... who knows ?

aye, no one knows, I doubt Rioch could've kept us up though but I certainly hold Rioch in high esteem for what he did, just not as high as other sam

in fact, I don't recall Rioch receiving the backlash that other Sam has when he defected to Arsenal, which let's face it, is the same thing, at least other sam saw the job through - suppose it comes down to personality, speaking of which, my bro used to live down in Norwich and when we asked some locals what they thought of Rioch they used the term "utter c?nt"

I don't recall Rioch lying when asked about leaving though. As far as I remember he just smiled ad shrugged his shoulders. Allardyce shouldn't have given us " the "break from football" lie.

if anyone can honestly say they believed him and were shocked when he went to Newcastle i will accept your point

our chairman has also "lied" a few times in the past yet currently he's cream of the crop!

Don't get me wrong, I'm no great admirer of Gartside, but I just think that if Allardyce thought he was too big for us (which imho he did), he should've f?cked off last season & not been so sneaky about leaving. I honestly believe we got into Europe despite him and not because of him last season.

Back to the girlfriend secenario: if you really don't want to stay with your bird, then just go off and find a new one then instead of making your current one think there's a chance you might want to stay. The sex just ends up half hearted and consequently rubbish & unsatisfying!

thing is, he tried to f**k off last season, just that england didn't want him

and last time newcastle came calling, he declined

how many people quit their job then look for a new one as opposed to quitting their job knowing they have another one?

sex is generally better than w?nking

for me only ferguson and wenger for me have done more for their clubs and funnily enough allardyce was just behind them in the management tenure stakes with his 8 years at the helm

As well as Wenger and Ferguson

of the current 20 Premier League managers i would say O'Neill did more for Leicester than Sam did for us(promotion and 2 League Cups with 20,000 crowds),Benitez has won the Spanish League,Uefa Cup, Champions League and Fa Cup recently and Mourinho is the most successful of them all over the last 4 years.

Allardyce did a similar job to Curbishley at Charlton and Redknapp is at the same level as those 2.

Good but i dont think Allardyce is a great.

i meant in england so benitez doesn't count, but also because of the resources he has available

I'll give you ONeill though

but not Mourinho

it's all about resources and money - plus alladyce doesn't have the reputation of getting the best out of players and turning their careers around for nothing

charlton did well but have no got in europe, neither have pompey, they too have lots of money

plus where alladyce led, others followed - tactics / prozone / backroom staff - some his ideas have changed the way managers approach the game

he may not be considered a great in terms of the premiership but in terms of bolton he is, probably the greatest, c?nt or not, but everyone seems to have forgotten this already - had you been asked this time last year I'm sure many would have agreed that he was far better than curbishley or redknapp

the football may have been painful at times but without him we wouldn't have had plovdiv, djorkaeff or a cup final

True Zico but the lying, the poaching of staff (who insisted on twelve month notice periods in their contracts), the criticism of the club leaves a bitter taste.

We move to new grounds, the players and managers bugger off at a moment's notice, the kit is changed constantly; we supporters are the only constant, we are BWFC and we will be here long after a fat Brummie has been forgotten.

say what you like but we'll never do better in terms of progression in such a space of time

don't care what he does at newcastle and whether he's a success or not, it's all about liitle sam now and unless he truly f?cks things up a lot of what we have at this moment in time and in years to come is down to other sam and the way in which he has turned this club around

the football may have been painful at times but without him we wouldn't have had plovdiv, djorkaeff or a cup final which for me are the best things I've seen at Bolton in the last 10 years

I also would like to point out that I believe that Gartside has also been integral in all of this so don't be calling him a c?nt just because we don't offer any players the contracts they believe they deserve

I dont doubt for a minute what Allardyce achieved at the football club and agree that if it wasnt for Sam we wouldnt have had Youri or Plovdiv. We may have had a cup final though, you never can tell. All I was saying is that he is arrogant.

Aye but I dont remember Rioch ever coming out slating the Chaiman.

Allardyce is a BWFC legend

In some ways I'd have to rate him above Rioch, because Rioch got us to the top flight - but never managed us there, let alone keep us there in the top eight for 3 years running

Both BWFC greats though

I don't give a monkeys what Sam says about Gartside or which bucket carrier he takes with him, totally irrelevant to me, what he did was incredible. If the man wasn't arrogant, wasn't selfish, he wouldn't have achieved what he has done. That's the nature of the man.

We were absolutely in sh?t street when he took over, I thought we were on the fast train back to obscurity.

I can't believe in 20 years time people would begrudge Sam taking a f?cking physio or two with him when he left, christ

exactly, it's nothing new, time to move on, onwards and upwards

Agreed. Achievements are in the past and should remeain that way. In terms of achievements, FSA has been the greatest Bolton Manager ever in turning the club into what it is in the present financial climate of football.

This doesnt mean we have to like or appreciate him for this, FSA has proved nothing but he was doing this for himself all aliogn and that his loyalties lie with himself and his family and not the club itself. Does anyone believe that if LSL did well and was offered the liverpool job in 2 years time he wouldnt turn it down? For me though the differences are pretty stark, I would not expect LSL to steal from the club and I would not expect LSL to turn on the fans in a manner which made himself look bigger than the rest of us.

For that I have lost all respect for the man. Let him turn on them Geordie fans and we'll se what happens...

i think the whole allardyce/gartside thing is very sad.

firstly, sam shouldnt be taking the staff that he told gartside he wouldnt take, that agreement was probably part of the reason why we didnt pay you compo when sam joined us, a gentlemans agreement so to speak, so sam should have stuck to that, or, alternatively, if we knew he wanted the staff, which no doubt we did, we should have paid the compo.

secondly, i think gartside saying 'sam wouldnt get the job if he applied now' is pretty petty, i think it is fair to say that big sam has a far greater pedigree than little sam, the man who replaced him.

you seem happy sam has gone, we are happy he is at our place now, so surely everyone wins?

the fans seem to be getting on with it and teh only people dragging the thing out are sam and gartside.

pathetic if you ask me.

surely a back handed compliment that one?

Depends what you put in the CV Jay! It might have fitted their job Spec! Did you mention that you use ProZone for the Allstars team and they all have special individual liquid diets? :)

GARTSIDE RAPS SAM 'QUALITY'

By David Anderson 05/07/2007

BOLTON chairman Phil Gartside has hit back at Sam Allardyce in their increasingly bitter war of words - claiming they will be better without him.

Gartside is angry at the Newcastle boss for going back on their agreement not to take any of the Reebok backroom team and is insisting they serve out 12 months' notice.

Sammy Lee is appointing a new team - including Frank McParland as general manager - and Gartside claims they will make Wanderers more professional.

Advertisement"I'm trying to get people who wanted contracts with 12 months' notice to work their notice," he said.

"If that makes me sad and bitter, then so be it. But people have gone and there was an agreement that he shouldn't take them with him.

"Far from making things difficult, we're finding it quite easy to replace them with better quality people. They will make us a much more professional outfit."

Newcastle's new billionaire supremo Mike Ashley hopes the Toon Army will soon be dining out to celebrate success - but he is unlikely to join them.

Ashley aims to finally halt years of under-achievement on Tyneside. But unlike most of his predecessors, the reclusive sportswear magnate is determined to remain under the radar.

The 42-year-old has appointed sports lawyer Chris Mort to run the club day to day, and the new deputy chairman revealed: "Mike's a social guy, but he doesn't want to become a celebrity. He likes the fact he can go to a restaurant and not get recognised
