email him and tell him what a c**k he is and he knows jacksh*t about football

Alternatively, don't bother emailing him. If he get's a load of emails through he will be delighted, as it means he is doing his job and getting people to "discuss" his column.

I can't believe anybody off here is sad enough to read the Daily Star anyway

Pricks! I didn't realise you had to be a cardigan wearing guardian reader to use an internet forum.

Seems there's a few us on here then, love.

You don't have to, as a rule. Reading the Daily Star is one step up from pop up books and writing in crayon.

'kin el even Lawro has us mid-table with an outside chance of pushing for europe!

About time we had a fair assesment, quite supprised from him though. If you go on the 606 forums from the lawro page the first post is by a scouser who says "Liverpool will win the league", every year without fail they predict that.

Sent him an email and bugger me just had a reply

Mine sent on Wednesday

Have just been informed that you predicted that Bolton Wanderers would finish bottom of the League as I do not purchase the comic you write for. However, do you actually know which teams are in the Premiership?

Let me tell you as you clearly have no idea the likely candidates for the relegation places - Derby, Birmingham, Wigan, Fulham, Middlesborough

- perm any 3 form these 5.

Reply this morning

have lost count of the times people say to me, never buy your paper but someone told me. the old one's are thebest. football is all about opinion and comment. Bolton third from bottom actually and being proved wrong is part of the game. try not to be abusive. regards

But you weren't abusive? Unless you've left out bits.

And it's not about opinions in his line of work, it's about doing your homework and knowing the ins/outs/style of play/backroom etc.

Maybe thats why there is so much shite about transfers, because they like being wrong

Haven't left anything out. Here is the exchange. The only things in have taken out are my email adress and my telephone numbers in my signature.

Am impressed if the reply below was not generic.

Clearly if I had read your "paper" I would have known that you had predicted that Bolton would finish third from bottom rather than at the bottom as I had been lead to believe.

Have never bought The Star, probably never will, and always read the Big Brother headline and have a giggle - likewise The Express' Diana Conspiracy headline etc., . Isn't there anything else in the world going on? As a serious journalist you cannot tell me hand on heart the The Star is a Newspaper.

Perhaps you could tell me in what way my original email was abusive. If you found that abusive for a red top tabloid journalist you must have incredibly thin skin if any at all. Having heard you on Radio 5Live I find this surprising and as I said the impression you give on the radio is one of a serious journalist.
