Not many goals coming from midfield and even less from the back four!

i dont think we are scoring enough goals, but to be fair 1 goal should win a game of football and we do score in more or less every game. just need to stop conceding goals from ridiculous individual errors.

We only had 2 players who started today who have scored this season!!!

just looking and in the last 47 games, we have only had 1 goal from a defender!

 

unless faye was in defence, then we have another 2. Not sure if he was in midfield for those games.

was thinking about the lack of goals today when looking at the betting coupon, as i looked down the list all that seemed to come to mind was cant see him scoring or him or him or him! Only Anelka with any real goal threat.

We need some shots first. I can't remember us having many actual attempts on goal today.

To be fair we were playing chelsea and who does create lots of opportunities against them we created more then i expected, more than spurs anyway (which isnt hard) but same old story if you dont finish your chances...

For all fact that he works hard and technically is excellent, there is very little end product from Diouf. 3 or 4 goals last season and as many assists. When he gets it right, like the sublime pass for Andranik's goal at Wigan, its brilliant but it doesn't happen anywhere near enough.

I also think the team fail to understand that to win a game you have to shoot on target.

we will not score goals until we change the balance of the team in midfield, speed should only play last 10 minutes for his experience if we are winning, campo should only play the holding role against the better teams, we can then go 4-4-2, nolan should not be a guaranteed starter week in week out, and mcann should only play as a last resort, we need to get adnranik stelios wilhelmson involved on a more regular basis, this would give us the required width and pace, I fear Megson has not got the bottle to do this I hope he proves me wrong.

Agree that we don't score enough but no way I'd consider moving/dropping or being without Dioufy and KD. The problem lies in lack of midfield creativity and yes, before anyone pipes up, I would give Andranik an extended run in the team once Speed is removed.

We have scored roughly the same goals as we had this time last season pushing for Champions League football. Suggests to me the problem is at the other end, having seen the way it affected Ben Haim last season I'm positive the contract situation is affecting Jussi.

The defence hasn't been particularly at fault in the last few games. In my opinion the problem rests with the midfield. Too slow to support the attack, too slow to track back and help the defence.

Which is maybe where the problem lies. Midfielders used to latch onto any error a 'keeper may make because they were in a good position to. Kicked hard and low into the box it turned into a pin-ball game. 50/50 chance that a Bolton player could pole it home before a defender poked it away. Nowadays they're more likely to be; and stay, behind the ball. This is to avoid getting done on the break by the opponents. Instead, they should be confident that the next time the opponents touch the ball would be picking the ball out of the net.

Derby are a poor side and we only tested them 3 times @ home. Ginger needs to improve his team. We are doing much better than we should be at the moment, playing the way we are.

 

I can see Shef utd getting something this weekend.
