this immobile trio is what makes for our extremely dull games, lack of pace and creativity. i wouldn't play more than 2 of speed, campo, nolan or mccann together.

look up "pedestrian" in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of speed, campo, nolan and mccann !!!

 

agree that no more than 2 of this combination should be played together with my preference being campo and nolan (if he gets his act together) with guthrie as the midfield 3, my view is that speed is past it with the jury still out on mccann

Cid is a lot better at full back than he was at centre half.

Thought McCann was awful today, as did everyone around me judging by the shouts of "Get him off" every time he cocked up. I would rather see Guthrie in centre midfield as I think he would be more effective there. He is wasted out wide. Midfield three of Campo, Guthrie and Nolan or Speed, with Stelios and Andranik wide - not Alonso after his no show in Munich.

 

Of course all this changes when Diiouf and Anelka return.

dont actually see what mccann did wrong, he did everything asked of him.

 

he is never going to win you a game of football, but he broke up play an won the ball back very well.

 

we looked very solid compared to early in the season, but lacked creativity. its just a case of getting the correct balance.

 

a month ago we would have lost a game like this, dont forget we were missing our 2 most creative players today.

 

there is definate improvement throughout the team, anyone who cant see that is a moron.

Agreed. I really don't think Speed is up to 90 minutes this season. Maybe I'm wrong and physically he is, but he doesn't look it from where I sit.

I thought McCann definitely had one of his better games today. Got stuck in. This is bit like Nicky Hunt. Even when he has a good un he gets slagged on here.

Speed is a premiership legend, but from what i've seen this season he has gone. he gives the ball away too often and his first touch is poor. IMO he should have been (pulled off! one for the ladies there! ) at half time and andranik brought on.

 

We were imobile and bereft of ideas. Guthrie was the only one that tried to run at defenders.

 

I was sick of seeing the same weakly lofted ball played up for davies. why not try a one/two to his feet and run at defences that way. nolan, campo speed or mc cann aren't goin to do this. guthrie or andranik could?

 

Very poor free kicks. again delivered in a negative tentative way. Blast it low and hard, work the goaly.
