November 15, 200718 yr Do you remember the other song from the 70's?"My world is a football That goes round and round Forever and ever Wherever football's found" That conjures up images of bell-bottomed jeans, Doc Marten boots, scarves around wrists, massive sideburns and the whiff of hot-dogs mingled with the smoke from a thousand woodbines wafting across the Lever End.
November 15, 200718 yr the smell of cigars as i used to enter the manny rd stand with me dad thowt it was cigars, maybe it was woodies but no other smell, bar the stench of piss comes close to being the smell of football

November 16, 200718 yr Was it 'My world is of football" ? http://www.vtmusic.co.uk/shop/item/7727178883.aspx BRUCE THOMPSON My World Is A Football (1975 /EX UK PYE 7 Inch - Promo B/W One Man Band , 7N45518) Sound clip here: http://www.mp3.pl/plyta.php?id=30408 Edited November 16, 200718 yr by Baba O'Riley
November 16, 200718 yr Can't remember many cigars at Burnden - pipe smoke maybe, and a sweet heady mixture of Old Holburn and Golden Virginia tobacco all mixed in with the smell of the tabs around at the time - Park Drive,Players,Woodbines.Throw in the smell of pies, stale ale, a bit of B.O. and the odd fart - and that was the complex smell of Burnden in the Sixties. Happy days. The only bit you missed out Bogsy, was the faint whiff of rotting flesh from Walkers Tannery on a hot early season Saturday with the wind blowing in the right direction. Christ that used to hum.
November 16, 200718 yr Can't remember many cigars at Burnden I can confirm that cigars were pretty rife in the Manny Road Stand. I remember sitting there once or twice with my dad and watching the game through a fog of smoke that made your eyes water!
November 16, 200718 yr what about the aroma of bovril...... Aye, especially for the night games. When I was a nipper I use to take a flask of Bov with me to the game, you know one of them small tartan dildo type flask's. I think Ali and NB still take Their flasks. I suppose the circle of life will dictate that I will once again take a flask to the match. I can see a campaign starting. Here we go again and MWIAF to be played before the games at the 'Bok. Give the new and upcoming Wanderers fans something to droan on about when they hit their middle years.
November 16, 200718 yr Was it 'My world is of football" ? Both songs raise the hairs on my neck, reminds me of night matches, promotion, anticipation, NOT THE FCUKING REEBOK, Tony Dunne, Worthy, Blokes walking round pitch selling Smaks, list goes on.
