14 Points Secured...

There seems to be alot of sh?te at the bottom of the Premier League this season and I have a sneaky feeling that about 38 points will be enough to stay up.

That leaves 24 points to claim (or 8 wins).

We're still to play Brum, Derby, Fulham and Sunderland at home and we should win all of those. We also play the likes of City, West Ham and Blackburn at home where points are also available.

And with the likes of Sunderland, Reading and Wigan still to play away, if we can keep on at a steady pace versus those teams around us, I think we should canter home to mid-table, but the home form from now on will really be crucial IMO...

i think where we are now is about where we'll be at the enf of season.

I must say how impressed i am with mr megson. he seems to say all the right things when interviewed and also makes consistantly astute selections and substitutions. the team ethic is there for all to see. since his arrival hunt nolan and guthrie have flourished. I for one admit i MAY be wrong about his appointment........ what say you.

? Good choice or not?

i was less than impressed with his appointment BUT i said at the time i hope he makes me eat my words.

i am doing and they actually taste nice!!!!!!

14 points from 16 games. Just checked and we got just 17 points from the last 16 games of last season and even then we qualified for Europe! So it just goes to show that all you need is a decent run where you string a few wins together and maximise the return from times when you're playing well.

"Mmm. Words..."

Brum (h)

Sunderland (a)

Derby (h)

Mixed with

Massives (a)

Everton (a)

next 5 games - if we could get 7 points, especially from those top 3 games, things start to look a bit better and put a bit of distance between us and the bottom

To get the wins we need the out and out goal scorer. At the moment we have that player in Anelka but my worry is that he will be gone in January re my post in the other thread.

34 will keep you up this year.

I dunno. I get the feeling that this season might be like our second in the Prem. With 2 teams waaaaay adrift at the bottom and somebody else (West Ham again would be nice) being relegated on 40-42 points.

I'd be looking at 9 points from the top three games and maybe 1 from Ciddeh and Everton realistically.

I think you're all counting your chickens. Paul Jewell has the indian sign over us, we've never done well at Sunderland and I expect us to lose that one. I think we can secure a draw at Everton and get another point at Ciddeh.

As it's us that are involved in the dreaded battle I think we'll need 40 points to stay up. Whereas if we're not involved it will be 34. Teams try harder when we're involved.

36 points to stay up this year.

The messiah will see us to safety with 4 or 5 games to spare.

Doctor Tongue - always was a believer in meggers

December is pretty soft fixture wise, although 5 wins from 5 like last year is dreamland of course, it's the month that made the season.

I don't think that's the case at all

What is it with this Paul Jewell appreciation society b0llocks on here. Utter dogsh1t. He's likely to have another nervous breakdown shortly. Get a grip.

I don't EXPECT us to lose at Sunderland. I think we might get 3 points there but more likely one.
