fookin andy obrien, without him we are absolutley terrible at the back!

where was he today, dint know he was injured?

we looked ragged and lacked a leader at the back without Obrien, Anelka looked like he was elsewhere played with no conviction, that is 3 bad games on the bounce, lets get shut and spend the money wisely.

Listened to Megson on the radio after the game, O'Brien missed the game through illness. Hope he's fit and well for next week.

davo :yahoo: the one player we cant play without

Defiantely missed O'Brien today, Michalik looks promising but for me he is still too inexperienced and is caught out of position too often, I also think that Miete is worse along side Michalik as he has to think for him aswel as himself. I also didn't understand why Hunt was getting so much abuse, it wasn't his fault for the third goal, he pushed up and closed down and somebody should of covered for him. That is a point where we needed Speedo, he will always take it upon himself to cover for 1 of the back 4.

I praised Hunt for closing down, but at the end of the day the 3rd came from the right where he should have been and he wasn't. Nicky Hunt has been playing alot better recently and people do need to get off his back. I fancy us at Everton Away 2-1

You can't have an attacking full-back doing defensive and attacking duties at the same time though. If Hunt is up with the attack, the CBs come across and stem the flow down that side . . . aparently!

Kevin Nolan, I know hes been shite but he looks like he has turned a corner since the wigan game. We need our captain back on form.

I would like to add to this that Michalik will never be a Premiership defender as long as I have a hole in my arse!

2 games with him in, 8 goals conceded.

I know Meite et al. are by no way immune from criticism, but Michalik is by far the weakest IMO. Definitely need better defensive cover come January!

Correct, i bet we wont get him though! He holds the ball well and creates space rather than just trying to get shut straight away.

unfortunately the better he does for us the more likely liverpool are to want to keep him.

and looking at some of their midfielders today he wouldn't have to do too much to get in the team

Are you trying to say he could possibly take Stevie Gerrard's place? Don't be silly, that's not going to happen is it? He's Stevie Gerrard! :nea:

maybe not st steven but the rest.

I argee with you when we first signed Andy obrien i though he was hopless, But hes impressed me and lets not forget he was Sammy Lees signing as well

And lets not forget youn Danny Guthrie is quiet important to us at the moment.

No doubt from Megson's comments that defence will be the main area to strengthen in January. When AOB plays with either of the other two we look OK at the back, without him though it is a shambles.

Its a bit like Faye, Meite and TBH last season. Any pairing that included TBH looked dodgey - this season its any pairing without AOB.

100% right :good:

Saw the game again on football first on Sunday morning - 3rd goal, look at Campo strolling back - he's never catching Petrov but should have been covering for Hunt - that's why we blay him in front of the back 4. We were punished by a team that counter-attacks very well, but if we were more solid we'd have taken that game.

He won't get into liverpool's team. Along with Gerrard there is Alonso, Mascherano and Sissoko who Benitez prefers. Also he plays wingers so you've got pennant, Kewell and Benayoun. Babel also seems to play wide sometimes. Therefore Guthrie would be the least used in a rotation policy, meaning he would get few games.

Agree on AOB. Think him and Michalik are our current best pairing.

Jussi was terrible on saturday. I'm sorry to harp on - but its Al Habsi time for me

he was also partly to blame last week for wigans goal, strolling back, not tracking his man.

defensive midfielder my arse, away from home mccann MUST play that role imo.

That Lucas is ahead of Sissoko now

Guthrie would be lucky to get half a dozen sub appearances

Just hope he's got the sense to realise that........he could do a lot worse than somewhere like Bowton.
