He would of dropped him even if it wasn't in the transfer window, we always drop our main players to save them for the prem why cant these media tossers see it!! Really cheesed off with this one!

January 5, 200818 yr Nic not playing in the 3rd round of the FA Cup was probably the safest bet of the year. Less valuable cup tied.

The press report the bits they want to report.
January 5, 200818 yr Anelka was never going to play today, whatever the situation. Doesn't mean he's leaving this month (though he probably is). More importantly, if we wanted to keep Anelka till the summer, we'd play him today to Cup-tie him. But we won't. So draw your own conclusions .....
January 5, 200818 yr according to the mail he was in the squad but was pulled out by megson after stating he wants to go to chelsea , who wanted him on loan untill the end of the season ! (cheeky cockney gits ) 11 million is the price ( were giving him away ) like we did with gudjohnson 16 million and no less if they want him ! we better get guthrie if he goes , if we dont i will be furious ( again )

January 5, 200818 yr Less valuable cup tied. Absolutely, if and it's still an if, he was to be sold then he team he goes to will want to play him in the FA Cup should they progress. There maybe talks going behind the scenes that we know nothing of and if I was the the potential purchaser I'd have told the club he doesn't play or you don't get the full valuation.

Come on lads - Megson knows that this was always going to be the story. If I was Megson I'd play Anelka just to wee the papers off. Then again that would be seen as team changes being influenced by the papers. He can't win.
January 5, 200818 yr I'd bring him on for the last 2 minutes! Anelka has of course started all our European Matches so far. Oh and no other players will be rested will they. The press report the bits they want to report. Has he???
January 5, 200818 yr I'd of rested him because its th FA Cup. Now we have to play him to tell Chelsea they ain't having it their own way. If you want him, stop f?cking about, we ain't going to roll over and drive him up to you, if you want him then its ?15 million minimum. If not f?ck off.

He can't win. wouldn't want you running my business BW. the bloke is on his way so why play him and do yourself out of cash ? if gartside suggested this then every bugger on ww would slate him. i despair at times Edited January 5, 200818 yr by Man_Walking_Dog

January 5, 200818 yr He should have been on the bench today as a back up. He wasn't. Thats me thinking he is going.
January 5, 200818 yr If we'd wanted to keep Anelka for the rest-of-the-season relegation battle, we'd have cup-tied him today. If we want to take a 'good' offer for him this month, it was best to keep him out. On valuation, I believe we paid a high-side market value for him 18 months ago (most critics thought the risk was too big at that price, that he was past it). Now that he's proved himself back in a major European league, we should be asking & getting full current market value for him (though those same critics will be saying 'how dare Bolton ask more than ?10m for him - who do they think they are ?). Anelka has always said that he's happy at Bolton if he has to stay here. Well, if Chelsea (or any other club) won't meet current market value, then we're about to find out what's what.

You don't believe what you read in the papers do you. "the mail says he was pulled out of the squad at the last minute" - rubbish he never was in the squad, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story though. Sometimes I think some of these papers should be sued for slander. It might make them do their job properly. As for the keeping him for the rest of the season and cup tieing him - again thats rubbish. Megson wanted out of the competition. He played as few of his first teamers that he could get away with and put in a load of squadies. Unfortunately none of them performed and I expect Megson will be moving them on.End of Story.
January 5, 200818 yr Interesting to see that Spurs still played Berbatov today despite the transfer speculation. Anelka is on his way with Cisse coming in.
January 5, 200818 yr do folk really think being cup tied for the fa cup matters to the likes of chelsea? does it bollocks

Who said I believe what I read in the papers ? I don't even buy the rubbish. Spurs say they want to keep Berbatov, they say they want ?30m for him, they cup-tied him today. If we really wanted to keep Anelka, even till the end of this season, we'd be doing something similar about it. Chelsea may not care if Anelka is cup-tied or not, but it helps send out a signal of intent. As would publicly slapping a big price on him. If we had any intent, that is. Personally, Anelka can be sold as far as I'm concerned. I just want the club to back up what they say and for them to get current market value for him so we can strengthen the squad. We'll see what happens. As for Megson wanting out of the FA Cup (he really has picked up an old copy of the BSA manual, huh), that's fine. I won't be going to any more of them unless I have a good reason to, so there'll be more empty seats. And don't anyone bother saying 'part-timer' or 'JCL', otherwise I'll be forced to brandish my credentials and it ain't a pretty sight.
January 6, 200818 yr From Chelsea news: It means Grant may have to play Claudio Pizarro up front against their Championship opponents at Stamford Bridge today, but at least the club have finally found a sense of humour. The visitors book at their Cobham training centre had been signed by a 'Nicolas Anelka' yesterday with an arrival time of '1pm' but it appears Grant will be kept waiting a little longer. "Berbatov and Kaka were also in there. Maybe Anelka's here," said a relaxed Grant. There is many a true word spoken in jest......
