Is he injured?

or just MIA?

I have been told he wasn't even at the club on Saturday....

let us hope he is looking for a new club, I hear chorleys midfield needs strengthening.

I think he has improved over recent weeks.

Would have been better than what was on show in the Cup !!

We have too many central midfield players for anyone to know what to do with them all.

How Sammy Lee was allowed to keep on signing them is beyond me...

...and what postion does the one Megson signing to date play!!!!!!!!!!

If I was a midfield player at Bolton I would be furious at Megsons's comment that Nolan is the first name on the team sheet & will continue to be in the future. Is that going to be the case if Matty Taylor comes? We seem intent on giving certain players untouchable status hence we get complacent performances.

for me the pre-requisite for a decent central midfielder is to have an high enrgy box to box game, someone who can get forward to help the attack and still has the legs to get back and help out, guthrie is in this mould, adranik could get there if given a chance, other than that no-one in the club has this ability, this needs redressing, the bonus would be we would not have to play a holding midfielder against the poorer teams, which for me is a waste of a player and contributes to our poor style of football.

P.S. when we play campo behind nolan and Mcann my heart sinks because the balance is all wrong and the game is going to be a stinker.

Spot On.

I thought he played very well at Sunderland ont 29th

The Megson comment was aimed at restoring the confidence in Nolan.

What did you want him to say?

"Yes, I agree with the fans, the useless fat bastard will be dropped next week"??

passing ability comes top of the list for me

ceratinly when you consider what we have

some snotty 17 year old who can run all day, or warhurst/hierro?

each to their own

A holding player against poor teams, especially at the Reebok, is a waste of a position. Look at some of the other teams who manage to play 2 strikers, for example.

Legs to get up & down the field is something most teams look for, including the big 4. It doesn't rule out passing ability - something which is sadly lacking AS WELL AS pace/legs at the moment. It' doesn't have to be either/or, black/white, Casino.

hierro was a great offensive weapon, albeit for about 12 games

this run, run, run mentality is what consigns the national team to year upon year of mediocrity

mccann is the best tackler at the club, id play him ahead of campo in EVERY away game, but not a home.

Could someone of superior football knowledge tell me what McCann is good at? Run run run yes, and can tackle a bit but is never really a 'holding' midfielder, never seen him spray a ball to anyone other than a ball boy, what is he good at?

holding midfielders 'hold', playmakers spray it a about abit.

he breaks things up, very much like faye did when playing there and nobody wanted to sell him...

exactly his job is to get in the way and break down opposition atttacks, a bit like a poor mans makalele.

just because they can run does not mean they should not be able to pass, if you buy top quality you can get someone good at both.

Agree with the sentiment, but is Mcann good enough at this level? to me he cannot get close enough to get the tackle in, a central midfield governor is a priority.
