January 31, 200818 yr If he stays fit, he could be a decent signing for the rest of this season within our budget
January 31, 200818 yr Hope he signs myself, if he can stay injury free he'll be a handfull for at least half of the premierships defences.
January 31, 200818 yr I'd take Roberts over nowt else without a doubt and without being overly impressed with him, have we heard of any other realistic striker targets that are available?
January 31, 200818 yr as it stands, right now, I'd take him but not at ?4M because it would be a panic last minute no one else available buy if it was the choice between ?4M and not buying him, I wouldn't
January 31, 200818 yr I'd be happy with that. Not quite what I'd thought at the start of January, but he could make a (positive) difference. I'd remained optomistic (some may call it Naive) throughout January we'd invest in some decent players... have started to worry now!
January 31, 200818 yr Not a bad signing dependant on price! He's quick and strong! He runs us ragged everytime and scores!! So hopefully he can do it for us!
January 31, 200818 yr ?2m would be a fair price for ROberts but we are absolutely desperate. yep and blackburn know it
January 31, 200818 yr Its not too bad if thats the best we can get !! He always runs us ragged, but we have had that in the past when we have signed someone who ripped us to bits and then never worked out. Big, strong and direct strike force though Davis and Roberts and with Diouf running off them, might be good.
January 31, 200818 yr He always causes us trauma so at least it's probably two less Jussi has to retrieve. Added to that another big lad defenders have to keep quiet, it should work ?! Four mill is nowt in comparison to the disaster that awaits if we don't sign someone. Cumon Jay lad... you knwo it makes sense Edited January 31, 200818 yr by Plums
January 31, 200818 yr If he's prepared to dress up as a Zulu and will run at players then ?4M is a bargain. Are there any rules that would prevent him from charging about the pitch holding the corner flag in a spear like manner?
January 31, 200818 yr If true - I would take him, even at ?4M. We are desparate for a forward who can show anything like a turn of pace and Roberts fits that requirement. Just think of the ?4M as an investment to gain a ?35M revenue stream from The Premiership next season, rather than ?11M from the parachute payments in The Championship.
January 31, 200818 yr roberts is a good player, and scores his share of goals i'd take him, no question fee doesn't matter to me finances aren't my worry, never have been still hoping for a classy midfielder out of nowhere Edited January 31, 200818 yr by Casino
January 31, 200818 yr still hoping for a classy midfielder out of nowhere I heard that Jackburn have pulled out of signing Koumas - as they balked at the ?5M price tag. At this late desperate stage (and playing on the old WBA links), would he meet your requirement?
January 31, 200818 yr I heard that Jackburn have pulled out of signing Koumas - as they balked at the ?5M price tag. At this late desperate stage (and playing on the old WBA links), would he meet your requirement? NO !!!!!!!
January 31, 200818 yr spotty welsh bastard......... but aye, it'd piss on the skip rats chips he's never really done it for me if i'm honest, but he's more creative than out we have that doesn't need a zimmer
January 31, 200818 yr Just shows how desperate we are though with all these replies after a simple ' my friend saw ' type posting.. Not that i'm slaggin it .. i just would like something a bit more concrete before I get my hopes up!!!
January 31, 200818 yr Ideally i'd like Feindouno or Gera and Roberts or Saha. 1 creative midfielder and 1 striker.
January 31, 200818 yr Got told last night that we tried getting Rob Earnshaw on loan for rest of season but failed. Now id rather have Roberts than him by a long way. In terms of creative midfield i reckon we will go for Feindouno in the summer, will be easier than getting him now while he is away at the African dance festival.
January 31, 200818 yr So ?4m for Roberts and ?5m for Cahill? No longer can we take the p?ss out of Man City for over-spending on duffers :::::::: On the plus side - I'm as happy as Casino was becoming a mod that we've signed a few more Englishmen.
January 31, 200818 yr Its not too bad if thats the best we can get !!He always runs us ragged, but we have had that in the past when we have signed someone who ripped us to bits and then never worked out. Big, strong and direct strike force though Davis and Roberts and with Diouf running off them, might be good. David Lee used to do that...and it worked out well for us. IMHO ...i think he will do o.k. help us to stay in this division for this year. We then add a class forward in the summer and having Roberts in our squad will give us options we simply don't have at the moment.
Jason Roberts is at the Reebok now!!
