I have just finished by lunch which started today at 4pm, I also took two weeks paternity, if I work a press night i try and take one morning off. And there is a women here who is off as she had a heart attack. So all in all pretty sensible.

Just to make all your arguments factually correct, council employee's are not Civil Servants they are Local Government staff the same as civilian police staff or teachers which is different than main stream Civil Servants.

 

However I accept the points being made but can assure you some of us work hard for your income tax, but not on Maundy Thursday when I get an extra half day of for Easter!!!

Your mate is having you on - there is no such thing as a 'sick leave allowance'.

 

Permanent local authority employees can have up to 26 weeks off work sick on full pay and the next 26 weeks on half pay.
