March 20, 200818 yr It is an outrage, I filled up yesterday at my local garage, and it cost me ?68! - it doesn't look as though it will be coming down in price anytime soon either. Unfortunately, the powers that be know there is practically nothing we can (legally) do about it.
March 20, 200818 yr In Norfolk about 5 weeks ago, I was running really low, and ended up paying ?1.27 a litre, which I think is the most I have ever paid. I did of course only stick ?20 in until I got back home, where my local petrol station was charging a more reasonabel ?1.15

I've mentioned it a few times on here already. Traf, pissed off at spending ?200 a week on fuel.

I know the dollar fluctuates between 40-50% of the pound but it is still a scandalous price for us. Th'owd chap over there runs his diesel vans on cheap vegetable oil. Customs & Excise can't touch you because you've paid the VAT. Maybe you should all be getting diesels?

It's cheap because not many people do it. The minute it becomes more popular, the price will go up as supply diminishes. Bit like diesel a few years back.

March 21, 200818 yr http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/2312521.stmit may have moved on from here has moved on since then. now perfectly legal but its not common knowledge, but price of veg oil is now nearing 50p a litre cause of it. this is one of the reasons why the price of food has gone up recently with farmers now sowing bio fuel crops. its the high viscosity thats the issue. This site though 5 years old explains some of the ins and outs. I know guys running who theirs on a 40% cut of pure veg oil. link to info

Can't be arsed googling diesel but my recollection is that the inventor of the diesel engine actually designed it to run on various veg type oils? Even cutting it saves a significant amount over a year - especially if you're a courier or similar really clocking up the miles. I am advised that the absolute best for a diesel engine is used (filtered!!!) chip fat from chippies. They will actually give it to you for free as I believe they may have to pay to dispose of it. Watched a programme recently where a bloke circumnavigated the mainland British coastline in a Merc diesel using this method. Engine pristine when checked out back in London. Must be well filtered though.

Me owd chap mentioned a court case where a judge ruled against Customs & Excise as the user had paid appropriate tax in the form of VAT. (04 or 05 I think) As that article was based on a story in Wales though, disregard my first paragraph. All types of odd behaviour flourish there.

Was thinking something similar...well, not similar, but well anyway.... The fuel allowance tax releif (amount you can claim back from your annual tax bill for using your own car and fuel for work) given by the Reds is 40p per mile on the first 10000 miles then 25p thereafter. Or sommat like that. So for every mile under 10000 you get tax releif on 40p, about 9p. After that its 5p. so an average of 20000 miles a year, it works out at 7p a mile. It's been the same since fuel was tuppence a barrel. Why hasn't it increased in line with fuel prices? Because they're raping us form another f?ckin direction thats why. Apart from a lawnmower, what the f?ck can you drive for 7p a mile? So, I'm paying Gordon the Commie to go to f?ckin work!!
