It?s called potential mate, City has it and to be brutally honest we don?t

Not really sticking up for anyone here, but can someone give me a detailed explanation as to what Phil Gartside has actually done wrong? Ok he never provided Allardyce the funds to buy big players apart from Anelka, but wasn't that in the interest of removing our debt?

But the debt has actually gone up.

I remember thinking that if we had actually hung on for a week or 2 before sacking LSL we may have had a decent chance of getting Jol.

If Megson was sacked, who we could or couldn't get in as a replacement would depend on how much of a kitty we could offer and I don't think we will be breaking any records in the transfer front this season.

a better manager becomes available then make the change but as it would seem from the lack of names that I asked for nobody else can think of any one either <_<

Hang on a minute - it ain't our job to come up with suggestions. That should be the job of the bloke who knows 'people in football' to come up with a list. Martin Jol and Sven immediately spring to mind. Either of those being appointed would reek of ambition. Appointing Megson did not.

Sven won't go to a club, unless there's pots of money to spend.

Same with Jol.

and jol will spend countless millions leaving the new manager a bottom half team where a big rebuilding job awaits

Your opinion or ITK? There are plenty out there. Overseas ones we haven't even heard of. The list shouldn't be limited to those two - they are just two who immediately spring to mind.

All conjecture anyway. Megson is going nowhere. Garty will stick with him until such time as a disaster happens. As I said elsewhere, I hope he proves me completely wrong. Can't see it though - relegation scrap every year until someone upstairs loses patience.

potential ?? whats city ever done in the last 10 years apart from winning the fooking play-offs they have as much potential as we have , whens the last time city played in the uefa cup ??

Its not stopped people on here before <_< What I'm getting at, is people are saying lets sack him, without any thought on who is available and a more important point, who would comeMegson does not inspire me at all, but and I will repeat myself unless we can find a better man to do the job what is the point of sacking him.

about 4 or 5 years ago wasn't it, they qualified though the "Fair Play" system I think, and got beat by a bunch of poles if my memory serves me right

Yes. In 2003 when they were beaten by Groclin.

Why did Sam go to Newcastle they?ve done less then we've done over God knows how many years, I tell you why because they have money to spend, they have bigger crowds (who turn up, not like a lot of Bolton fans) so therefore have the potential, that?s why those 2 clubs I've just mentioned have both be sold to new owners, if we are so ragging good why as no big investors come in and bought the club, back to that word again 'potential', there?s is top 4 or at least top 6 ours (if you take the rose tinted specs off) is mid table and with a bit of luck the occasional top 8.

That my friend is real or we go the unreal route, if so take a go look at Leeds

newcastle , dont make me laugh !! wow! they get 50 odd thousand every week so does that make them win the league or anything else cause they get many fans , they havent won fcuk all for 50 yrs matey , as for leeds they just got greedy and if thats what getting to a champions league semi-final does for ya ,im glad we`ve never been in it !! as for a big investor , who knows ?? :good:

thanks for that , couldnt quite remember when it was :good: :good:

Martin Jol?

Ambition?

If spending ?40mil to end up in the bottom half, with a first team of....

-Chimbonda--King--------Dawson-----Bale----

-Lennon----Jenas-----Zokora----Malbranque--

--------Keane---------------Berbatov------------

Is what classes as an ambitious appointment these days, thank christ our board is dull.

Tyldsley White makes good points. We are not a fashionable club, we try the near impossible task of running the club like a business, meaning we can't run the club at huge losses like Portsmouth, for example have done. So we can't pay managers ?5m a year and give them ?50m to spend on players who demand ?3m a year on salaries. Hence "big name" managers will go to those clubs with money no object glory hunting owners. Crazy current football economics I'm afraid.

So given that then there is only Megson, and BSA out there who look worth considering. And given BSA has left the club due to lack of money, then unless there is a regime change at the top, we need to keep Megson.

And as for Gartside, he has done nothing wrong, in that he made a logical choice in Sammy Lee, who proved to be clueless, then brought in a manager to repair the damage and keep us up, which Megson has done. He has no or little control over the amount of money we spend, and whilst the team choice for Lisbon was regrettable, we would have almost certainly gone down had we progressed in the UEFA cup.

It?s called shitloadsa money, mate, City has it and to be brutally honest we don?t

If megson was sacked, I would go for Michael Laudrup, he could attract top players and play attacking football, If we have any ambition to be a premiership club long term we have to throw some cash at it and for starters we need to spend 25 million, we supposedly have Anelka money still to spend and surely we can muster another 12-15 million, that is nearly 30 million, with that type of cash a big name like Laudrup would surely consider Bolton a decent option.

Michael Laudrup would actually still be a better winger than Wilhelmsson or Braaten.

It?s called potential mate, City has it and to be brutally honest we don?t

The only potential City have ever had is the potential to make a pigs ear out of a silk purse !

what are we going to do about getting gartside out of the club so we don't have a repeat performance next season?????

IF we are all getting tickets again only way is a boycott of all club products and food/beer at half time
