Contract Talks

Now that we are safe I assume that these contract talks that have been put on hold will be back in full swing soon. Even with the excellent performances from AAH I would like to see Jaaskelainen stay. Great keeper and suprisingly under appreciated by quite a large number of Wanderers fans. Under used this season, and not everyones cup of tea, I would like to see Stelios stay too.

If not Jussi then certainly a decent replacement for Walker who must be laughing all the way to the bank. No games, few reserve games (if any), what does he actually do?

AAH has certainly showed he is a class act and not a result of BSA's alledged brown envelope dealings

Stelios must be persuaded to stay. Megson must have caught him shagging his missus. I cannot understand why he has not been a regular.

Let Jussi go, he didn't want to sign a new improved contract, he has been talking to countless clubs to get a bigger payday, great player for us but now time to move on.

I'd like Stelios to stay though

I'd say Stellios' goals this season, without looking up all the stats, have been pretty important for us. For that reason alone he should be given another 12 months.

No different from any other player then. Every deal has to suit both party's though.

Time to move on? Interesting comment. Unless we can get someone who is at least equally as good, and no one springs to mind, then I find that statement odd. Plenty of teams willing to take Jussi of our hands. If he was playing for another team, other than us, then I would assume that we would be one of the clubs interested.

The problem is, you can never keep two top-class keepers happy. Each will expect to be in the first team. Each have their individual merits. Look at Arsenal; they have two top, top keepers, (OK Lehman's a tosser of the highest degree!) and Wenger can't satisfy both their needs. Result is, Lehman is off to pastures new.

If Jussi stays, Al Habsi will go. Keep a 33 year old. Get rid of a 26 year old. Not a good idea.

Jussi will not stay to be number 2. IMO Al Habsi has proved that he is good enough to be the number 1, and if Jussi was fit for the last few games then I would not have put him back in the team.

Oman's only one should be given a long contract and IMO Jussi should be left to go, he has been very good for us but we've now got a replacement so there is no need to give him the huge wages he wants to sit on the bench.

Get rid of Walker aswel, and get scouting for some young talent to sit on the bench for a while and make some cup appearances.

As for the rest, the only one I would offer a new contract would be Stelios. He is a very good option to have on the bench, and has scored some very important goals.

Is Gardner's contract up aswell?

even as afan of jussi, i'd accept it is now best if he leaves

not taht i think al habsi is any better

but he probably will be and hes got years on jussi and no loong standing back ailment

id also keep walker

why the fook not

never, ever played a bad game for us and happy picking up his cheque

i presume bogdan is thought to be third in line, so id stick with what we have

far more pressing matters

as for stelios - goodbye

Think that's exactly what he was saying at full-time.

Agree totally, theres much more important areas to be working on than the goalkeeping department (as long as we keep Al Habsi obviously).

I would be happy for Jussi to stay but we shouldn't any more than is reasonable (20k max IMO) given Al Habsi appears every bit as good. We should offer him enough for him to sign a 4/5 year deal.

Stelios needs to leave IMO, along with Campo, Braaten, Alonso, Vaz Te, Raziak.

He'll not take a pay cut to stay.

I would have thought he is already on more than that anyway

I have it on good authority that his last deal was worth 16k pw.

i understood it was even less than that, but 16k and nice fat bonuses sounds about reet

I would let Jussi go, he has been a great servant but, seems like he is asking for to much money, earlier this season I seem to remember that his agent was comparing him to Anelka in terms of the new contract, I think he has had a poor season, culminating in the shambles against Liverpool, it is no coincidence that al habsi has come in and we have looked more solid.

What a disgrace. How has he been managing?

jussi asking for 40k a week , last big pay day for him..

celtic were interested but injury has put talks back .

time to say farewell and thanks for the greatest premier save ever ...scum away !!!
