Carlos Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 How offside? Still, a kick in the balls for all those folk who've taken up being Italian because their Great-Great-Grandfather went there once.
Manny Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I drew Holland in the sweepstake so I'm happy with that. Best game so far.
Happy Wanderer Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Just my luck as I turned on the telly at 91 minutes so hear 'oh what a great game this has been'. Bollux
enzo gambaro Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 How offside? Not at all. Panucci played the horse-faced f?cker on.
frank_spencer Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Not at all. Panucci played the horse-faced f?cker on. whilst on his arse off the picth?
Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) Yes. You are factually correct. I heard so many so called "football people" on talksport this morning stating it was offside. This slight adjustment was brought in to stop defenders stepping over the line to play forwards offside. Would there be this debate if he had fallen into the back of the net after colliding Buffon? Now if the ref had allowed to him to go off to recieve treatment that would be different. Advantage to the attacking side. English refs take note. Edited June 10, 2008 by Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion

This slight adjustment was brought in to stop defenders stepping over the line to play forwards offside. I'm not sure they've ever been allowed to do that. Certainly, deliberately leaving the field of play without the referee's permission has always been a cautionable offence. There's nothing (well, there are probably a few things) pisses me off more than having to folk on the telly who don't know what they're on about. I'd have stabbed Chris Waddle in the eye if I been anywhere near him during the France-Romania game yesterday.
magic legs Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 The "who understands the offside law" pantomime every sodding week on MOTD always pisses me off. They should get rid of the entire bunch and start again. Linekar is such a smug prick.
Zico Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 all good as it turns out http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...008/7445476.stm seems though the players don't even know the rules anymore, Kuyt said in the interview after they were all waiting for the flag to go up and were surprised when it didn't even horse face has a good look round to look for a flag as he runs off celebrating

I don't imagine he had any idea where Panucci was when he stuck out a hoof to deflect it in. The plonkers on the telly don't have that excuse (though David Pleat was possibly too busy cracking one off over Dirk Kuyt to be giving the game his full attention).
Smiley Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 was there not a Dutch play off the field also? can't quite remember now.
enzo gambaro Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 was there not a Dutch play off the field also?can't quite remember now. Possibly, though that has no bearing on the offside decision.
jayjayoghani Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Opens up a bit of a can of worms does this. Understand player has to leave field "intentionally". Was Panucci injured or acting? Ironic that it's RVN benefiting too. Player who's well up for a bit of gamesmanship - though he wasn't obviously.

If he leaves the field accidentally during play he is still considered active.

enzo gambaro Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Bit harsh if his knee's hanging off though. I agree. But if his knee's hanging off and he's still on the pitch, the same thing applies, doesn't it?
jayjayoghani Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 So when you changing your username to Arjan Van Gambarooy?
enzo gambaro Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 So when you changing your username to Arjan Van Gambarooy? That's fighting talk!
jeep Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Bit harsh if his knee's hanging off though. How about if his fetlock is hanging off?
jayjayoghani Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 How about if his fetlock is hanging off? He should be shot, of course.

Don't get me started on David Pleat, he was fcuking awful covering Portugal v Turkey, senile old c?nt. He called just about everything wrong.
rochdale white Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Graham Poll came on 5Live last night and said the goal was offside and a dreadful decision. That left me in no doubt it was a legitimate goal!
