thats where we are......

I've mentioned this before but never really had the chance to suggest it to a real life publican.

Col, get with the times, topless dancers, bingedrinking competitions, etc., and rename the pub 'PLANET TVVAT' with a sign undrneath saying 'families welcome'.

Its a winner mate.

pubs are a dying trade

pubs are a dying trade

Now THAT is a depressing statement.

I don't agree with it though.

I think that TSO is right

My brother-in-law works as an area manager for Punch Taverns, he reckons the industry is totally on it's arse. He expects to up to 10% of the pubs he is responsible to shut before the end of the year due to the current downturn.

I think you might have a good point there, TSO. I used to enjoy going out to the pub. Now, I findthem to be populated by a high number of scrotes & general miscreants and so I find little fun in it.

Though, there is still something rather pleasant about sitting outside in a nice pub garden of a splendid summer day with a tall glass of something cold.

Miscreants. Its an ace word is that.

True though - especially in Bolton, have a look up Daubhill - a lot of the boozers have gone. There used to be 13 pubs on Halliwell Rd, half of them are either up for rent or for sale and so far there aren't many people rushing to take them over. The smoking ban seemed to be the final nail in the coughin' for the pub trade

Miscreants.

In the same ilk, I also quite like the word 'reprobate'.

i was in a couple of pubs last night- underneath oxford road station... now they're pubs!

col, i will endeavour to support your wife and her new role in anyway i can. congrats and good luck mate :drinks:
