Any suggestions for an area for a weekend of golfing in mid-September within 2 hours drive of Manchester?

There's 6 of us and we normally do Nefyn area and we're looking for somewhere different....thinking maybe Chester area staying at Carden Park but we're struggling for more ideas...

two hours drive is anywhere North of Brum, south of Lakes, West of Hull and all North wales. Can't you spread your net a little wider?

Apparently there is a good course at Lytham.

Not really, we did the Algarve in June so there's a budget, but more importantly there's a couple of new / expectant Dads in the group that want to be able to get home with ease in case there are any problems

half decent one at Southport too, Birkdale I think it's called. Or, if you don't manage to get on, Bolton Municipal off Chorley New Road. If you set off about 8.00 in the morning on a match day you could tie the golf trip in with a football match.

Fees will be astronomical this year due to the Open being there.

(sensible post alert!)

You are near Leeds if you fancy a good night out.

You are near Bradford if you fancy a night out and a proper curry.

You are near Keighley if you fancy getting pissed and fighting.

Think Smiffs has stayed here in the past.....

If Tiger Woods is playing at the same time, don't let the f?cker play through!

Jules - Knott End. Never lived til you've played Knott End. Skinful of ale in Fleetwood and then the ferry ride. Marvellous.

Carden Park is a great place for a weekend golfing, As alternatives there Herons Reach in Blackpool and Wychwood Park in Crewe both these are part of the DeVere's so Hotels on site,

Carden Park is quality.

Played the Nicklaus course 3 weeks ago. The facilities are spot on - the club house is the size of many hotels.

It was a supplier over-night hospitality job, so I have no idea how much it cost.

Has to be said though - stupid Scottish game which should not be encouraged.

Heaton Park.

Very close, no hotels needed.

Have you been in a coma for a month?

Leverhulme Park pitch and put.

Why, have I missed something? Was he playing at Wimbledon? European Football Championships? What makes you think I give enough of a f?ck about golf to know the dates of competitions?

Is there still one of those at, Moss Bank Park?

Unless they've introduced wheelchair golf, he won't be playing.
