Good Article Re Super Kev

Aye, it's a good read.

"The former Blackburn and Southampton striker scored only four goals all season, but the last of them sealed victory in a pivotal win over West Ham last April.

Davies played out of his skin that day, and few will forget the image of him charging back into action after having a hideously dislocated finger put back into place.

'He's from Sheffield,' was the wonderfully simple explanation from Megson.

IE HE'S NOT A MARD-ARSED FOREIGNER!

Not realising at the time that he had broken three other fingers, Davies had an operation while sitting out a two-match ban, but still returned to see Bolton safely over the finishing line. It was hard to imagine Anelka doing the same.

'I've got a metal plate and pins in there now,' he said, pointing to a small scar on the back of his hand. 'There was a clean break, a fracture and a spiral fracture. I still can't bend the dislocated finger or lift the other one up. It was a bit of a mess really.

'That game did galvanise the team - not just the hand, it was the fact we won and kicked on from there. In the last five games we looked like the old Bolton Wanderers.'

Unashamedly tough and uncompromising (just ask Manchester United's Patrice Evra), Davies epitomises the old Bolton. It's why the fans love him. On this occasion, Davies has taken time out to attend a kids' training session at Bolton Arena, relieved to be preparing for a new season in the Premier League and not the Championship.

'You can't even contemplate it really,' he said. 'I imagine quite a few players would have moved on, like what's happening at Reading.

'I've been here five years and love the club."

I have questioned his ability at times but there is no getting away from the fact that he is a top bloke whose commitment is rarely bettered by anyone else in the team.

He's never mentioned as being one of Big Sam's best signings, those plaudits go to Youri, Jay Jay, Heirro, Campo, Stelios, EHD but he belongs in there with them after all he's not Super Kevin davies for nothing, even though we got him for nothing.

and megsons just said hes going nowhere and will extend his deal over the weekend

Kevin Davies is a legend for many reasons, but for 1 particular reason in my eyes:

"And Evra revealed his anger with Davies. He said: ?It was the same last year when he kicked me as well. I said to him then, ?Why do you do a tackle like that?? And he said, Because I don?t like you?."

Legend.

Kevin is the soul of Bolton.

Kevin is the soul of Bolton.

Indeed he is!!

"Why do you do a tackle like that?? And he said, Because I don?t like you?."

It doesn't get much better than that or more honest. Soft bstard Evra!

the thing about kev davies he is old skool, and that is what is missing from modern day football, and that is why i have gone off the game, 100 percenter, i do call him, but cannot deny his workrate, and his desire/comittment for the game.

The problem is less shooting ability more the fact he's just ran 100 yards to win the ball so isn't in the box. Not that he's on par with Anelka in terms of shooting, but I think we'd all find it hard to be on the half way line after having gone to kick some soft left back, make a pass and be in the box.

Very good article people don't realise how good a player he actually is maybe people will start to realise this that he isnt one of these players who have to go off with a bump to the head and will give everything.

he played on with fractured cheek bones, broken feet and fractured fingers for the club, probably the antethis to the modern day footballer

Exactly.

Broke his foot, went to the touchline, had an injection and played on.

Campo et al wouldn't play if their hair / make-up / jewellery etc wasn't right

And he still looks better than the hairband/make up/diamond earring brigade! Goes to show, either you have it or you've not!

I can't believe some criticise him. One of the top three best value signings in my time as a Bowton fan.

so we've got ian marshall and davies

who is the other one

Per Frandsen.

Cost ?300,000 as the makeweight in the Johansen deal.

Sold for ?2.2m

Re-bought for ?1.6m

So, all the service we got from him and a ?300,000 profit.

(The Didi Hamann deal was decent value too!)

I take it you won't kick him out of bed for farting :D

Total respect for Kev. I hope he is with us for years to come

My favourite player since McGinlay, conducts himself well, appreciates the club and what we've done for him. Seems a real genuine lad

Reading the stats, I was suprised at how many games he has played for us now. What epitomises him was last year in front of the ESL when he got the kick in the chops and just carried on running, Campo and Diouf would have been down and out

so we've got ian marshall and davies

Ian Moores

Aye,i'll echo that.Davies would be the first name on the teamsheet for me - what he needs is a player alongside him who'll bang in 15 goals a season.

Not any old left back...............bet Evra's looking forward to coming to the Reebok again.
