Our Amir

I was just watching the advert for the fight on Saturday and thought how pissed off Mr ITV must be. They have paid a fortune before we knew if he was any good to show him sparring a load of nobody's and then the minute he gets a decent fight he fooks off to Sky Box Office.... What a shit house.

Still on You Tube for anyone that hasn't seen it yet.

How do you mean not making progress? he was beating everything that was put in front of him, and how many times was he floored under Harrison? and its not just about the way he was sacked, Khans father has a big say in his daily routine, Oliver was telling him to do one thing, ie the right thing, hours before a big fight where as his dad was telling him to go for photos with his sponsers, give interviews etc.

Khan has got talent but I cant see go it going far cos of the people he has round him.

He was trained by Harrison up til the Gomez fight wasn't he?

So Limond floored and very, very nearly KO'ed him under Harrison.

And 'beating everything in front of you' can be very misleading in boxing especially if you are fighting smaller guys all the time.

Anyway, make your mind up, he either was going the right way under Harrison or he wasn't... I don't think he was. Not necessarily Harrison's fault but still...

Watching the super slow motion last night of his face when he was hit was just like looking at a jelly mould being wobbled.....then his ears followed.....he's goosed now, he's no chin and he will have to fight Prescott again to be a champion thats if he stays at that weight!

Every fighter is going to get walloped on the chin at some point regardless of who the trainer is. If your chin can't take a clout, you will never be a champion. Khan's chin can't take a clout.....he will never be a champion.

Maybe this is just what he needed. He now needs to work hard and not live the showbiz life that he has done for the last 2 or 3 years. It does show that all the idiots were wrong when complaining about the quality of his previous opponents. I do agree that he has no chin, which is worrying, but if he learns from this he can still go on to be a world champion.

glad he got knocked out , he is a first class pr!ck and flies round bolton like he owns the place. couldnt have happened to a more deserving individual

Sounds like someone is a bit jealous.

He's a Bolton lad, A bolton fan and thats enough for me.

so is jonathan.

Amir didnt need to go to America to have a proper trainer, he had 1 here in Oliver harrison, the way he was treated by Amir, his dad and his advisors was out of order and anyone who knows anything about boxing will agree.

Am so happy that he got leathered, our P**i or not :yahoo:

Harrison a decent trainer? Not for the pro game he isn't.

Khan still boxes like an amateur. Harrison may well have been treated badly, but he wasn't the man to guide Khan through the transition from the amateurs.

willam bearsville will have to eat his words on this guy

he will go as far as Hatton, but will never get the adoration of British fans, because of Asian origins.

don't you just hate how smug i am this morning..

i don't hate him because of his skin colour, check through my previous threads..

i've praised his britishness in the face of hostility from muslim fanatics..

i just think/know now been proved he's over hyped and over rated..

I have made my mind up, hs going the right way with Harrison, he was floored once, in I think 19 fights with harrison, 2 fights later he has been floored by Gomez, a smaller guy and been beat, do the math

so far the right way he hadn't learned to bury his chin?

unless of course you reckon he only started exposing it post Harrison

Why not for the pro game? I remember about 5 years ago when all the pundits were saying Billy graham was no good for Hatton, well he didnt do a bad job did he, Oliver took ste Foster to a world title, was has happened to him now since he has left?

At the end of the day khan I dont think Khan is in the top 2 of the British fighters at his weight, never mind world

The answer's in what I said previously. Khan still boxes like an amateur.

Amir Khan isn't good enough to win a world title. That's as clear to see as the chin on his face.

However, I supported him last night, because he is ENGLISH and from BOLTON, in the face of some terrible racism in my local last night. The locals didn't dispute he was from Bolton, but they all wanted him to lose, because he is: and I quote "just a P?ki from Bolton".

Unfortunately, similar comments have been posted on here, by people I thought (a) knew better and (b} had more intellect than that.

All this: "he's a P?ki, but he's our P?ki etc" type of bollocks has to stop. It's pure racism, whichever way you look at it.

Dislike Khan for:

his attitude

his arrogance

his inability to defend etc etc,

but don't hide behind his skin colour, ethnic origins and heritage as an excuse.

Put Amir in the category of Roy Greaves, Julian Darby, Nicky Hunt etc if you like.

Local boy done well for himself leading to bitter resentment from the jealous onlookers.

Well I think its down to him now, many of time on TV you have seen oliver bollocking him for show boating, etc and he has now used another 2 trainers and he is still carrying on, its down to him at the end of the day, they, the trainers can only do so much

Oi Royal.

Don't quote my posts and then change the wording to make me look a racist too.

Sorry traf, I cocked up my last reply, what I was trying to say is that he is not very English when he is fighting for Great Britain in the Olympics wearin a asianstan gum shield

He's still English, though.

Perhaps he's also very proud of his P?kistani heritage and wanted to display this in some small way.

he's english when it suits ie to put bums on seats..

Maybe but he was fighting for Great Britain at the end of the day, end of,

Not sure how you come to this conclusion.

Frank Warren has now complained that Rubio chose the opponent, so he's as good as admitted he was hand picking safe opponents before this.

Anyway the complaints were based on Amir saying 'Yes, I'd like to fight Pacquaio / Hatton' and 'I'm above British level now' yet having life or death battles with guys who weren't even near the best lightweights in Britain.

Amir won't be winning a bona fide world title ever; the moment Limond dropped him most people knew there was a problem over and above his inexperience. The struggle he had beating Gomez was the final nail for me; he's a British level fighter, perhaps European. No more.

There are half a dozen truly world class operators at lightweight who would take him to the cleaners, and there's probably twenty more who would be hot favourites to beat him.

I've never seen Calzaghe critised for being proud of his Italian heritage or the Welsh saying he's a wop, but he's our wop.

maybe you don't look hard enough..

maybe you don't look hard enough..

True enough, but it's not as apparent as it is with Khan.
