November 19, 200817 yr Not the actual commentators. Just the idiots who sit in the gantry with them. Or sit in the studio with the programme presenters. I'll start the ball rolling........... Jamie "State the obvious" Redknapp. Joe Royle
November 19, 200817 yr Steve Claridge is pretty poor as well (for those who have ever watched any of Setanta's offerings)
November 19, 200817 yr Steve Claridge is pretty poor as well (for those who have ever watched any of Setanta's offerings)Describing him a pretty poor is being generous. They even had him hosting the Beeb's 606 phone in a couple of weeks ago. The man is a complete fcukwit.
November 19, 200817 yr Jim "European Nights at Anfield are special" Beglin Edited November 19, 200817 yr by FailsworthWhite
November 19, 200817 yr Joe Royle, Jim Beglin, Phil Thompson. Pair any one of them with Barry Davies as commentator and you have my idea of hell.
November 19, 200817 yr Author Garth Crooks, he'll use 100 words to say something that can to said in 5. Crooks just likes to think he sounds intelligent. But we all know he's the end of a bell.
November 19, 200817 yr John Motson. He is more interested in having a conversation with his co commentator (usually Lawro) than telling the viewer what is happening on the field. Also he is very biased when commentating on England games. If he wants to be a fan then he should pay for his ticket and go and sit with the fans and let a proper commentator do the job. Incidentally why does it take two to commentate on a game. When I go to the match I don't need anybody telling me what is going on, I can see for myself. A good TV commentator should be informing on what is happening off the screen. eg if someone is making a run on the far side of the field. And he should be silent more than he is talking.

Someone like Steve Wilson. Now, he's very good IMO.
November 19, 200817 yr Jim "European Nights at Anfield are special" Beglin I was going to put Jim Beglin in the other "Footballers you hate" thread just because of his punditry always mentioning Liverpool. I didn't because I can't remember him ever playing for them!
November 19, 200817 yr Wouldn't it be easier to just list the ones that are ok? I'll start the ball rolling.........er...
November 19, 200817 yr Wouldn't it be easier to just list the ones that are ok? I'll start the ball rolling.........er... Stuart Butt is best co-commentator by a long way
November 19, 200817 yr David Pleat he makes words and phrases up as he goes along that make sense only to himself I presume they make sense to himself but they probably don't Ian Darke is the best footy commentator when he does the odd game on SKY
November 19, 200817 yr Someone like Steve Wilson. Now, he's very good IMO. Thanks! Yeah jamie "my tie and/or suit are clashing with the cameras" redknapp and claridge get on me tits because they are fairly new to it and are therefore wank as the proverbial death. Others who should know better would be thompson on soccer saturday the guys a bell end.
November 19, 200817 yr David Pleat he makes words and phrases up as he goes along that make sense only to himself I presume they make sense to himself but they probably don't Ian Darke is the best footy commentator when he does the odd game on SKY Pascal Shimbomba is a particularly annoying pleatism
November 19, 200817 yr All of the ones mentioned and Mark Lawrenson. When he commentates properly he isn't too bad, but he always seems to try to make the lamest jokes possible that just aren't funny. Although Alan Green for his comments on us simply because his beloved Liverpool team were losing a few years back is the worst. For me Colin Murray is one of the few excellent presenters and should be in a much better spot than Five's UEFA Cup games.

November 19, 200817 yr Pascal Shimbomba is a particularly annoying pleatism aye, his abilty to pronounce players and team names differently to anyone else will hopefully one day cease to annoy
November 20, 200817 yr Alan "did I tell you about when I used to play for liverpool" hansen. Utter utter c unt. I don't even know if he commentates but he's a c unt anyway. Best is probably Martin Tyler.
November 20, 200817 yr I don't dislike the man, but John Barnes is, I think, the only presenter I have seen on TV who hasn't improved at all with practice.
November 20, 200817 yr Author I don't dislike the man, but John Barnes is, I think, the only presenter I have seen on TV who hasn't improved at all with practice. He's wooden.... A bit like this mon.
