And before you start, I did pay, but at a discounted rate...?31 for a game of football is a joke....any how.

Nice to see some meaty tackles early on in a derby game, Nolan and Steinson being booked, but they should have had a couple booked too, not worried we seemed to be doing thing Ok.

However, SKD that one on one, what was he doing, waiting for someone to brew up before he put it away, A top class striker would have scored end of, then wigan gave the ball away and SKD puts Elmander through, and he should have run at goal, out he messed about and attack over.

WE HAVE A DISTINCT LACK OF PACE UP FRONT, When Wigan went on the break, they broke at pace and in numbers, we seem to lumber up the field.

They score, with a correct decision, AOB was trying to Back Rap Heskey.

Second Half, Dreadfull, do we have a paln B, we seemed to panic very early and continually pumped long balls up hoping for half chances, this is second rate football IMO.

I like Steinson, but I dont think once yesterday he made one of his trademark overlapping runs to get in those good crosses of his.

AOB is shite, sorry but he is, any numb skull can tae free kicks all day and pump them long, and his defending leaves a lot to be desired, Shittu surprised me, not scared of getting stuck in, buy again he just oofs the ball forward at all costs, and his pace again leaves a lot to be desired.

We struggeld to break down an average team, not that's worrying, next up Arsenal and Man Yoo, cant see us gettting out there, then we are right in the releagtion mire again.

And there in lies Megsons problem!! He doesnt whether it be lack of ideas or lack of options!!!

We've had no plan B since at least 1999.

Allardyce never had one.

True but I thought Allardyce`s plan A was more succesful and he had better players to fit his plan A

I was thinking that when I read it. When we brought Riga on and Muamba, Gardner went to left back, Taylor went to left midfield and later in the game Shittu went up front, I think Megson used Plans C & D as well as B, he doesnt lack ideas or options, making the right ones seems to be a bit of problem.

I'd add 'making the right substitutions' to that.

Too often he seems either to make the right substitution at the wrong time (too late in the game), or to make the wrong substitution (yesterday) at the right time. IMO.

Not that he's given himself a lot of choices ......

Kevin Davies is an embarrasment as a premiership striker, his inability to even get a shot away with that much time and space beggars belief. The fact is he sh$t himself and did not have a clue what to do. I cannot think of any other prem striker that would have been so bad in front of goal, Richard Cresswell maybe!!

The next time he got the ball he ran it straight out of play for a goal kick and that was it, he took his bat and ball home and became totally anoymous for the rest of the game.

He didn't even do the things that people cream themselves over on here, such as harrying and chasing, winning headers and making a nuisance of himself.

He is miserable as sin, does not seem to encourage any of his team mates and in my mind is a spent force. I honestly believe Megson should show his metal and get rid of Davies rather than persisting with his limited contribution.

I know most of the team were poor yesterday, but Davies was abysmal.

Therein is the problem. He has never been, isn't and will never be a Premiership striker. He is a Premiership target man and, for my money, one of the best in the league.

Yes, he's human and has a shiyte game now and again. Generally, he is immense for us and would be my first name on the teamsheet every week.

Always reminded of the crap Roy Greavo had to take from certain fans when it comes to criticism of KD. Greavo got it because he wore the number 9 shirt and some thought that meant he had to be a latter day Nat Lofthouse. One of the best ball winning midfielders we ever had but many couldn't see past the no. 9 shirt and expected him to be rattling in goals.

spot on Bolty, Davies plays with his heart on his sleeve, never gives less than 100%, he will chip in with 8-10 goals a season and create another 8-10, O.K. a piss poor effort yesterday but would guarantee that without him we would lose more matches.

If I remember rightly Greaves was number 4. Maybe I'm confused, but just to confuse things even more his first game for us as a youngster was as a centre forward (possibly the manager was Nat Lofthouse but I am not 100% sure so I would need a statto type to let me know) before eventually establishing himself as a defensive midfielder.

bolty I used to stand on the terrace in them days with my Old Man and he used to say 'when Greavo had a good game Bolton had a good game'. I also remember many hecklers shouting 'get it forward' instead of passing it sideways too much.

How times have changed, if you lump it forward now you are frowned upon as a a big boot team.

dad said exactly the same about greaves

its stuck with me when folk have screamed blue murder at players picked in week in, week out by managers

managers who see em every day and actually know what theyre asking said player to do

Sorry that is bolloc&s, maybe in the past, but now as soon as he is getting no joy against any team he dissapears and becomes annoymous!

I agree.

Kev Davies is a great player who contributes a lot to the team. He didn't have a good game against Wigan. You can't expect him to perform at the highest level week in week out.

That goes for the team as a whole not just Davies.

He has a bad game and suddenly he is past it. Megson goes from manager of the month to losing at Home and suddenly he is clueless and should be sacked. What is up with you people? ;)

If that is being a normal football fan, I am glad I'm not normal small-smiley-017.gif

All correct and your old man was a wise man. My old man used to say that if Roy Greaves stayed down he was really hurt. Wouldn't give the opposition the satisfaction of thinking they'd hurt him unless he was in real pain. Tough bugger he was.

Greavo started with the number 9. Number 4 came later. I know it was Jimmy Armfield who recognised his natural role and played him in the middle. Farnworth lad with a proper fooking name. Benoit Assole Ricotta, Jan Vinegarstroke De Hesselink my arse.

I think Armfield was involved with England youth/u21's or suchlike when Davies was at that level

I heard him say on the radio a few years back when we signed him and he had his renaissance that he'd been baffled by Blackburn using Davies as a midfielder - he was an old fashioned English target man even as a young lad

Lot to be said for putting people in their best positions, one of my pet hates is 'managers' who can't even manage this

Unfortunately, occasionally he does give less than 100% & these 'ocassions' are becoming increasingly frequent... Sunday's performance was a perfect example (It wasn't just him of course, there wasn't a single player in White who could match the effort put in by the Piemen, although Davies only played half a game at Anfield so he should have had more energy than anyone else).

We all know he has never been, or ever will be, a profilific goalscorer, but if you take away his brawn we are left with another passenger that we can ill afford to carry.... No, or little, effort = No brawn.

Sure, he will have some decent games in the future & the Davies lovers will be out shouting the odds, but personally I measure a player over a season or more & taking into account his last 18 months performances Mr.Davies' days are numbered at this level.

Happen that whack he got on his ankle in the first minute that left him limping was troubling him more than he was letting on.

As a Davies lover myself, I think that is very harsh Ziggy. I can't agree with the last 18 months comment.

You are either a wind-up merchant or you aren't very knowledgeable about football.

Okay, so without the works hard bollox you lot spin out, explain why he isn't shite. For my part these are my reasons why he has always been :

Cannot control the ball.

Cannot run with the ball.

His passing is bloody awful.

His goals to game ratio.

His assits ratio is poor.

He often mis-hits the ball.

5 yards out from goal i wouldn't put my mortgage on him to score.

With him in the team we only have one game plan...hoof.

Oh, and NO fan is kowledgeable about football hence we don't manage football teams

i know where youre coming from, but these points are over exagerrated.

ask any defender in the league "what striker do you hate playing against" and i reckon the majority will say kevin davies in their top 3.

so we start off by ignoring one of his main attributes. then exagarate his weaknesses.

no one thinks he is a world beater but he has done a great job for us over the years, the stick he gets on here is amazing.

fact of the matter is when he plays well it lifts the whole performance, if he does nt play well he gets slated.

there were 9 players plus subs who had stinkers on sunday (shittu and samuel are the 2 i would excuse)

riga looks out of his depth.

muamba was joggin about rather than trying to get forward

topic man did nt touch the ball.
