January 21, 200917 yr Don't think it's been mentioned, but I understand the squad went off to Dubai earlier this week for a "mid-season break". Which prompted the question what is their history of form like when returning from these?

January 21, 200917 yr In the Fat Sam era, the foreign jolly piss-up warm-weather training was usually followed by a downturn in form: if that's possible.
January 21, 200917 yr I can recall previous threads on WW about this. As Traf mentioned, I am pretty sure that our form was shite after returning from these 'mid-season breaks' or 'warm weather training'. But... I suppose the other way of looking it at, I assume the form was shite when comparing to what it was like before the holiday... ...so that means the form after the break was the opposite to that before the break... ...so that can only mean one thing - UEFA Cup 2009/10 here we come
January 21, 200917 yr joe kinnear took newcastle go karting that tells me a lot about the struggle ahead
January 21, 200917 yr Apparently they were all p?ssed-up in Tenerife the other year (shock, horror). Now is it warm weather training or team bonding?

January 21, 200917 yr I don't recall us ever winning a game after a spell of warm weather drinking. In 2005 we went to Newcastle on a run of ten unbeaten after one of these holidays. We lost.

He's been injured for months. There used to be the same issue with Tal Ben Haim, but they used to let him go home to Israel for a few days.
