Sluffy Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Quite a long and interesting article - ?There?s three or four of us who tend to stay out: Davo (Kevin Davies), Gaz (Gary Cahill), myself, and normally Fabrice Muamba. It helps to improve your touch, and your sharpness,? explains Matt Taylor. ?We have a competition between ourselves and you have some banter with the goalies and it puts a smile on people?s faces, but the main thing is it keeps you on top of your game. There?s no substitute for practice, practice, practice.? Plenty more here - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle5822390.ece
Felgate Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 "Taylor joined Bolton a year ago for ?5.2m...." ?5.2m? I thought it was more like ?3.5m? Even if it was ?5.2m, on recent form, he's been worth every penny. Another goal today against the Barcodes and Capello has to put him into the next squad.

I agree that we got a bargain, when you here the paper talk that Downing is worth 15 Million
beer_swiller Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 As it stands with money available, Megson is three decent players away from assembling a bloody good hard to beat side.
Sluffy Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 As it stands with money available, Megson is three decent players away from assembling a bloody good hard to beat side. Someone has changed their tune - just four weeks or so ago you were saying this!!! - I aint a Megson lover and never will be. For him and fans on here to say the singing was a minority, come off it, all 5000 were singing it and I bet most of them on here were there joining in. A few people on here are scared death of certain ones in case they get slaughtered. We dont know who is pulling Megsons strings but no doubt he will take the blame if no decent replacement is sorted. He already moaned about his small squad which now has been made even smaller. Either Megson is doing what he is told or he has made another boob. If he`s signings were that good we would not be in the position we are. Eight goals at home all season is a poor show.
jolly-olly Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 The shooting practice hasn't really helped Muamba
beer_swiller Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Fluffy, I still aint a *uckin Megson lover nor will I ever be. If everyone agreed with each other it would be boring would it not, so I will alter my opinions with each deciding game. As I have stated we are a few decent players from a hard to beat side. Today` Keep diving into the archive cos you might find more dirt.

You are entitled to your opinion - I merely pointed out how changeable your opinion on Megson's team was! I agree that differing points of view stimulates debate - however if you don't give a fuck about what other folks think - then what is the point in entering into debate in the first place?

Very well said, get the man a pint. Im terrible you know, im one moody bastard, anyone in Atherton will tell you that. I dont give a *uck, but I am entitled to an opinion, whether you or anyone else thinks im right or wrong. I will openly admit I don`t like Gary Megson, I hated Allardyce at times but I do give credit when due, and I will stand by my words that Bolton are three or four decent players from being a hard to beat side again. Megson is so predictable, at half time I mentioned to our group that he will bring on Gardener for the second half. He still has a big job to win those fans over, he has shut up a few squawkers, me included. Today we hung on for three more safety points, but the passing again was terrible. Lets hope we see better on Wed night. Reet im off for a pint. Regards

Casino Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 3 or 4 players from a hard to beat side? i'd say we were that already
exiledwhite2 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 3 or 4 players from a hard to beat side? i'd say we were that already Dunno, the losses column is quite high isn't it? I'd say we were inconsistent, as the relatively few drawn games suggests, but that's not true either I think we are pragmatic. Highly pragmatic. Win the games we should. Lose the games we should. I think we're only a couple of players from a good top half side, but those players could be Okocha and Diouf (early days) standard, and we might never get them.

I think pragmatic is the one non expletive word that pretty much sums up Megson don't start, it's not a bad thing
Traf Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 3 or 4 players from a hard to beat side? I'd say we were that already We've lost 6 at home, but it was 5 of the top 6 plus Wigan, who are still 8th.

Regards this not aimed at you personally, but this post sums the problem with the anti megson gang. you say he is predictable, and use the gardener sub to argue your case, but ricardo came and scored the goal that won the game, so his desicion contributed to us winning the game so maybe predictable but also effective, not sure how he can be criticised for this. the only problem with the substitution seems to be that it was made by megson. it cartainly was nt a like for like change so having a plan B can not be bad .....can it ?
Traf Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Yes, Megson made a predictable move to win the game. The anti-Megson gang prefer him to be unpredictable and lose. These fans aren't exactly coming across well, are they?
bristolwhite Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Gardener seems to have a lot more impact coming on as a sub than when he starts a game.
Guest bwfc devon Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Lets just enjoy the win & 3 more points, Nearly safe now. O and stop going on about megson he is here to stay for 2 and a half years.
Sluffy Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 A four-minute interview with Megson after the match. He explains the substitution, and more mysteriously talks about 'things' having to be put right behind the scenes! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/m...day/7917760.stm
ph31 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Megson is so predictable, at half time I mentioned to our group that he will bring on Gardener for the second half. What a cr@p move that was, I cant stand it when players come off the bench and score its a bloody discrace. If they're not good enough for the starting XI they shouldnt be on the wage bill. And what the hell are we doing climbing away from the bottom 3? If we dont have to win the last game of the season to stay up its going to get pretty boring. We are all entitled to an opinion and mine is that you are the type of 'supporter' bwfc would be better without.

He explains the substitution, and more mysteriously talks about 'things' having to be put right behind the scenes! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/m...day/7917760.stm Nothing mysterious, because we've discussed loads of times on here already. Behind the scenes was a shambles before he arrived. More than half of the support staff went with Allardyce to Newcastle: the rest were either sacked or mis-used by Sammy Lee: different coaches home and away etc etc. So, he's had to rebuild behind the scenes from pretty much nothing. It's a non-story IMO.

He explains the substitution, and more mysteriously talks about 'things' having to be put right behind the scenes! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/m...day/7917760.stm I'm not sure he explains why Muamba was the player that Gardner replaced, since he admits we were more solid with Muamba on. We needed Gardner on at half-time in order to attack better for the win - good move on GM's part. I thought maybe for Elmander though, since he's not yet match fit and was subbed later anyway. Just myview of the way the match was going ..... don't all shoot at once.
