Comic Fcuking Relief

Is it just me who cannot abide this shite?

We've had all kinds of wanky charity auctions throughout the week at work. Tomorrow will see a whole host of contrived 'whacky' events. Then that is followed up by a load of shite on TV. Celebrities jumping on the bandwagon for a bit of free publicity in the name of charity.

Tw*ts like Lenny Henry - if he was funny he would be on TV on alot more frequently. He isn't on for a fcuking reason. The emotional blackmail clips of starving kids - must just have an annual famine across Africa, you never hear about it otherwise.

Don't get me started on the multi-millionaire tax exiles like Bono and Geldof. In fairness, Geldof may not be a tax exile - but he's a cnut nonetheless.

If I want to give to charity I will, I don't need to be coerced and made to feel like a miserable tw*t if I don't follow the sheep and wear a cunting red nose.

Oh, and I'm having a bad day :D

To quote the Rt Hon Maggie Tait, 'its not food they want, its condoms'

And that racist cunt will get fuck all out of me.

Lenny Henry - how unfunny is that guy?

I think I laughed more watching Ken Bigley have his head sawn off.

i think it was Bernard Manning who said, "thats just what them poor starving fuckers need, Lenny Henry and his big fat fucking wife going looking at em, showing them what its like to eat 10 meals a day."

:pardon:

Regardless of the follies of donating money to Africa

the money Comic Relief raises goes to help some fantastic local charities back home the kind the wouldn't be around without their support as they don't help the 'fashionable' causes.

it'd be much better if they scrapped giving money to foreign aid and focused on their UK causes.

Bolton Hospice get my help, all the rest can fuk right off !

It was mentioned at work we need to do something. I said, under the circumstances, they can fuck off if they think any of my money is going to something which gives to charities I have no control over.

I do hope they weren't thinking I was just having a bad day as the first one who mentions it to me tomorrow will get the wrath of my tongue!

I think that's a bit harsh to be honest.

The needs of folk in Africa dwarf the needs of folk on these shores into insignificance surely?

I don't believe in giving cash to dodgy dictatorships but building schools, water treatment plants etc.

Maybe I'm just a sucker.

perhaps scrapping would be the wrong choice of words maybe cut back and focus on the UK projects.

Streetwise the charity me and the missus help at struggles every year just to get by.

the Comic relief money is vital to keeping these places going.

Frank's right. I might be being small minded, but there comes a point when you say enough is enough of feeding the same folk year in and year out. As the saying states: Charity begins at home.

fantastic local charity

this sums it up for me

Good read that.

Well, you don't need a degree in econmics to see that a poor sodding farmer trying to sell his produce when aid agencies are giving the same stuff away free is not going to be a millionaire anytime soon................. unless he lives in Zimbabwe.

Im sick of millionnaire celebs getting kids and grannys to dig deep for charity, why dont they give one of their houses or cars to charity instead

Thankfully I'm not in tommorro as I'm not a big fan. If I was tho I've been told I can wear something funny for money at work. So we all have to wear something stupid but we wear a badge as identity. All pretty inocent so far but i work on a kids ward and we've been told we have to take our uniform in so we can change into it in case there's an emergency?? Emergency buzzer goes off.."Hold on a second, don't do anything!! I'm just getting my clown shoes off!!" Sorry your kids not so good, and heres batman to tell you whats wrong.. As said before that would be about as funny as seeing lenny henry in stand up.

Comic Relief isn't funny

I will pledge a pound but expect my shed painting in return

I think that's a bit harsh to be honest.

Aid is not what is required and it doesn't work.

I like Comic Relief to be fair, i think its a good laugh.

And it doesnt just give money to Africa. Most goes to charitys around the UK.

Just caught the last 15 mins of the The Apprentice comic relief shite on BBC 1 and I've got to admit that Patsy Palmer would feckin well get it!!!

She's a ginge too - I sicken myself

I've had a text that it's come to work in red day at work tomorrow,

A one word answer will surfice: No

Jesus, there's some miserable fcukers on here. Yes, charity may not work in the long run and a lot of this maybe about making yourslef feel better about living in such a state of comfort in comparision to millions of other folk out there. By dint of birth we got lucky, the poor buggers whose wives are raped and killed, living in unclean jerry built shanty towns, children orphans or living with AIDS, homeless, no clean water, no state health facilites. And that's just Middlesborough.

I do appreciate what I have, and I know I'm lucky. It's the contrived nature of Comic Relief that fcuks me off. People in work today, in a large majority, couldn't give less of a fcuk about Africa and other worthwhile causes - they see it as a chance to piss about in work for a bit and have a laugh.

I have charities that I feel close to and I actively raise money for them. Over the last couple of years I've raised over ?10k for 2 different charities. So charity itself isn't the issue.

The irony of people thinking you're a tight bastard for not getting involved in Comic Relief. Brilliant.
