Comic Fcuking Relief

Jesus, there's some miserable fcukers on here. Yes, charity may not work in the long run and a lot of this maybe about making yourslef feel better about living in such a state of comfort in comparision to millions of other folk out there. By dint of birth we got lucky, the poor buggers whose wives are raped and killed, living in unclean jerry built shanty towns, children orphans or living with AIDS, homeless, no clean water, no state health facilites. And that's just Middlesborough.

I do appreciate what I have, and I know I'm lucky. It's the contrived nature of Comic Relief that fcuks me off. People in work today, in a large majority, couldn't give less of a fcuk about Africa and other worthwhile causes - they see it as a chance to piss about in work for a bit and have a laugh.

I have charities that I feel close to and I actively raise money for them. Over the last couple of years I've raised over ?10k for 2 different charities. So charity itself isn't the issue.

The irony of people thinking you're a tight bastard for not getting involved in Comic Relief. Brilliant.

Haha we have one off them on our car.

I like Comic Relief to be fair, i think its a good laugh.

And it doesnt just give money to Africa. Most goes to charitys around the UK.

they throw that in as a token gesture - most of it goes to Africa, where it clearly does not work - there are loads of great causes in the UK that are struggling at the minute, who do make a real difference with the cash they are given, and I speak from a lot of experience.

As the Right Honourable Member for Leyth said - the best bet would be to send them a bucket load of Johnnies and stop them breeding for a bit - that will make the biggest difference

bit late now but i hope you made sure that you're not wearing any hint of red at all.

Indeed. Not even a hint of pink, Frank. :good:

It's the whole guilt thing which fcuks me off. B?stards outside shopping centre doors shaking tins in yer face; knocking on your door etc. They get short change from me. "If I want to give to a charity, I'll go and find it thank you. Now kindly fcuk off out of my face" (see Crawley, another miserable c?nt).

Like Idiot Wind, I donate a decent amount to a particluar one as well as organising fund raisers for a home down here for battered, abandoned and abused kids from 2-20yo. We have one coming up on 31st May which will soon be a 300 ticket sellout and will raise enough dosh to completely fit out bathrooms in 12 secure units being built there for abandoned teenage mothers (most between 13 and 15) whose partners; parents etc have disowned them and kicked them out.

The problem with the whole African thing is that they've played the violin so many times folk have become immune to it. Then there is the issue of whether they'd be having these problems at all if evil old whitey was still running things. Of course they wouldn't. They'd have full bellies; opportunities to work etc. but they'd be 'oppressed' by 'imperialists'. Better to starve eh?

but thats why comic relief works

people who normally wouldn't donate to charity do so as it's an excuse to act like a pillock

and i'm pretty sure the money is split 50/50 between the UK and Africa

this is some of the stuff they support in the north west alone

I do hope you are on a fishing trip with that load of shite. I can't even be arsed to go into how far you've missed the point or weren't listening in history.

Anyway, just popped into HMV on Oxford Street to buy the new Starsailor album ( I know, but its for the wife) and there's stuff going on, people in costume and more unbelievably people smiling. If it cheers up London for a day, good on it.

Crawley why do you hope bolty is fishing? He's right you know

Exactly. I'm not being a tight wad, I have a standing order coming out of my bank account to my chosen charity each month. As I said yesterday:

they can fuck off if they think any of my money is going to something which gives to charities I have no control over.

Crawley, sometimes you don't half come across as one of them condescending, pipe smoking, university educated Chardonnay swigging socialists. I have not 'missed the point' at all. There is a far bigger point your red tinted glasses have filtered out.

Get your head from up your arse man and stop believing everything those lying red c?nts write in Socialist Worker. Trust the evidence of your own eyes and opinions from those who have been/lived there.

There is one overwhelming argument in my favour which blows any argument you can put up out of the water. That argument is Rhodesia or the basket case which is now called Zimbabwe. Comrade Mugabe was really the cure they needed eh? I'll bet most of the population are singing his praises as I write whilst they all tuck into all of the excess food left over after they have provided food for the rest of the continent. Good old bread basket of Africa eh?

The problem with Africa will never go away untill they are better educated about family planning

and learning that having ten kids when you've no money and exepecting some other fcuker to foot the bill

will never work :nea:

Oh, I don't know. It seems to work pretty well for some folk in this country!

Spot on I've spent 30 years in and out of Africa and I've seen and heard sooooooooo much. If I wasn't

using my I touch I'd write enough to dispel a few myths!

I will give one, most white rhode (sorry) Zimbabwe farmers are now in Zambia or Nigeria at the request

of the appropriate governments and guess what? To improve food production!

How come there always seems to be enough money for guns and ammo?

And dont even get me on the beasts who think raping a young girl will cure AIDS.

unfortunately it is on in my house at the minute - they have just totted up the spend in the UK last year and got to ?11M, at a point of just bragging of hitting circa ?35M this year.

the list shows starts duplicating itself - makes it look a lot bigger
