L/H White Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Can someone tell me when the final field is announced? Just been on Betfred and there's about 100 horses to choose from. Cheers. Quote
Horwich Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 the final 40 are normally named on the thursday before. Some bookies offer (nrnb) non runner no bet, if you are having a punt now Quote

Traf Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I dont think horses that run at Cheltenham have a good record in the national if my memory serves me correctly. You are right. I will, of course, be doing a trends guide for the Aintree festival. Quote
Zozzy Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I thought everyone knew that 'My Will' will win the Grand National If for some reason you haven't put your money on it yet, it is still 12/1 at Corals and Laddies Quote
Traf Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 My Will may well win the National, but if everyone knew about it: it'd be odds on, so ssssssssssshhhhhhhh! Quote

L/H White Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 I thought everyone knew that 'My Will' will win the Grand NationalIf for some reason you haven't put your money on it yet, it is still 12/1 at Corals and Laddies BACKERS of My Will, who has been cut to Grand National favouritism following his eyecatching run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, received a boost from the handicapper on Tuesday as a result of a new rating that will ensuretheir fancy will be 8lb well in when he runs at Aintree on April 4. Already as low as 10-1 favourite in the betting for the Grand National in the wake of his fifth place behind Kauto Star in the Gold Cup last Friday, My Will's claims were underlined further when his BHA rating was revised to a mark of 160, the horse having been rated 152 when the weights were originally published. Comply Or Die was 11lb 'well in' when he captured the prize last year and the Paul Nicholls-trained My Will, originally allotted 10st 10lb, would be carrying 11st 4lb if the race was framed now. My Will's emergence as a contender has been part of a carefully planned strategy, according to owner Andy Stewart. "My Will is well in but I thought he would go up more than 8lb," said Stewart. The weights are set to rise by at least 2lb following the withdrawal of top-weight Exotic Dancer atTuesday's forfeit stage, with the acceptors set to be revealed on Wednesday Quote

tylswhite Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 You are right. I will, of course, be doing a trends guide for the Aintree festival. The trends have worked really well on the grand national about last 4 or 5 years now. Had a decent return every year since i started looking at them. Quote

enzo gambaro Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 L'Ami for me. Nice weight and age for a National winner, rarely falls, and, though he has never won beyond three miles, he has decent form over the best part of four miles round Cheltenham's Cross Country track. He finished less than two lengths behind Garde Champetre when second in the Cross Country at the Festival last month, and that was a good enough prep for Silver Birch to go on and win at Aintree two years ago. He finished tenth round Liverpool two years ago with a stone more on his back, and I still reckon he's the class horse in the race. Mind you, I seem to remember saying most of that last year before L'Ami came down at the second fence, but I'm sticking with him! He was 40/1 last week, he's in to around 25/1 on Betfair now, and he'll probably get shorter still if AP takes the ride. And while we're on Silver Birch, it might be worth a small go on him going in again at around 90/1 on Betfair. He's only had one run (over hurdles) since his big day but he's won twice over the big fences and is only 5lb higher than when he won in 2007. Quote
Whisky Face Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Butler's Cabin for me, purely because I know a girl named Butler and the horse's name sounds like a euphemism for her growler. Quote
