ok, you're right

the team that had played 10 and amassed the grand total of 5 points - having already played and failed to beat 3 of the seasons bottom 4 - was well placed for a charge at europe

aye, whatever

now you're selective to suit your argument. Why don't we take one game out of the 10 which we lost , and say 1 point from 38 would be a good season as the points/games ratio (1/38) is better than (0/3) .

Why not look at the relegation form for the 2nd half of the season we stumbled into Europe?

Been done to death this but we displayed the same form at the end of the season before, wasn't unusual for Allardyce teams to have bad spells

I don't buy it that we were a 'shot' team, not to the extent Lee made us look anyway

lets not play silly games with numbers cos ill win them

whoevers fault it was, the team was on a downer by the time megson got in

thats my point

not just that allardyce left us weaker than we realised but lee totally fcuked us up

Horsesh*t

I'm not expecting to challenge for Europe. I am expecting us to challenge Portsmouth over ninet minutes.

And to Tyler, why do I blame Megson for yesterday? He picked the team, he put players in certain positions, set out our formation, no plan B when things weren't happening, set out the stall for a 0-0, not sorted the defence out, no creativity. Just for starters. But there will be those who blame the players fair enough. The manager has an input too though and I didn't see anything other than negativity from Megson yesterday.

Can't disagree, snowie.

What I find ironic is that we aren't good at clean sheets anyway; only 4 all season.

We are one of the highest scoring teams away from home, why not stick at what we are better?

Let's see:

Jussi in goal = no complaints yet.

RB Steinnson - still no complaints.

LB JLoydd - Nope, still no complaints.

Centre backs AOB + Cahill - can't think of a better FIT player to step in here.

Midfield of Ricardo, Taylor, davies, Mccann, Basham - Still good.

Up front - Elmnder. Still no complaints.

So, on paper, they look about as good as we've got available. The fact they didn't do much on the pitch is their own fault not Megson's.

Just another bad day at the office, hope we don't have many more. :drinks:

A couple of the Sundays I read were making the point that Megson set the team up for a scoreless draw. He takes the credit when things going well, similarly it's a bit daft to ask why was Megson to blame?

Him and his coaches picked the team, decided on the tactics, formations and substitutions or lack of them. I agree he can't personally mark the near post but anything from yesterday would have been an injustice.

Maybe we didn't play well enough to get too much from Pompey . . . but neither did Pompey!

So are you saying you wouldn't have been happy if we had nicked a point or even 3.

Or are you saying That would have been unfair because they played better than us.

Its football get the points anyway you can.

Just back.

Waste of a day; couldn't even get pissed as I was driving. Will make up for it now though.

Quite strange atmosphere among the Bolton fans right from the off - quite a bit of internal argy bargy and then most just gave up the ghost. As Big E said at the end, if the players can't be arsed why should we :pardon:

He is a wise man him.....handsome too.

Weekend wasn't a complete loss. i found out what bowlingo was and how to play bar billiards (still think i need a couple of lessons). Pompey is actually a better place than i though. top drinking in the froddington arms pre and post match.

As for the game. we looked like we were on the beach (which i suppose technically we weren't far off). i don't think we will go down though. hopefully we can build again next season. we are 2 or 3 players of a decent team. we need some more creativity in midfield but who doesn't when you get below top 4. there is a lot of in fighting between fans. i blame this on people be addicted to moaning and people like myself who have realised that it is not the most important thing in life. seems to be getting worse by the week

Mr Magoo, that takes me back. Wasnt he funny though?

:yahoo: Well that's alright then! Brilliant result! Why did we bother turning up if Portsmouth are so formidable? We already write off matches against the top six, shall we extend that? What utter bollocks. If we'd played well and lost fair enough but there are NO excuses for that performance. Just what would it take for you and Tyler to wake up. I'm all for looking on the bright side but for God's sake, who are you Megson's mother?

don't be a cock. portsmouth have a decent home record

Yes he was, used to make me laugh (waldo) :drinks:

One of my favourites. Not many make me laugh out loud, but he did.

This was the squad that Allardyce and Lee left -

Braaten

Alonso

Cid

Hunt

Teymourian

Meite

Wilhemsson

Joey O'Brien

Vaz Te

Ian Walker

Michal?k

Dzemaili

Speed 37 years old

Campo 33 years old

Stelios 33 years old

Helguson

Sinclair

Harsanyi

We did have Anelka true - but we also had a ?53.5 million debt too!

We also had Diouf and Nolan - but lets be honest they've not really done anything in the last 18 months have they?

That leaves just Jussi, Gardner, Davies, McCann, Jlloyd and Andy O'Brien.

Seems a shot side to me - so much so that Anelka had to be sold in order to get others in.

Sluffy I won't argue the point with you, as you move the goalposts too much

You can't just say 'let's not count Anelka, Diouf and Nolan', and for no good reason discount Campo and Stelios (who scored vital goals to help keep us up)

Oh and Gartside always said the initial money Megson spent was NOT using the Anelka money

maybe it wasn't, but maybe it needed paying back?

anyway, to me, thats a red herring

what isn't is the fact megson walked in to a load of shite, some over the hill talent, and half a dozen quality players

partly down to sam, partly down to lee

he then had to sell the best player

Er, Gartside?

I'm not quite sure if you're being sarcastic cause that was my point.

don't be a cock. portsmouth have a decent home record

 So because they have a decent home record, we can't put in a decent performance? How many times do I have to say it, it wasn't the result it was the performance that bothers me. Cock.
