Ok well look at it from the other angle, What percentage of Packistanis Indians, Somalis, sundanis etc etc who were born over here from Immigrant parents consider themselves to be English???? I bet is hardly any

 

Put aside the colour and I am your prime candidate! My Polish parents were repatriated here in 1946 from Germany rather than go back to their own country which was then firmly under the communist yolk of Russia (they already knew of the atrocities that the Russians had committed against the free polish forces and people before and at the end of the war, this was known by the western allies but keep quiet until the 1960's)

 

I was born here in 1960 and have always considered myself to be English first and British second (never polish) as do my 4 siblings. As you know I do have right wing views/issues with the kid glove PC treatment of a certain swathe of the immigrant community who in my opinion put being British a poor third behind their religion and country of origin. I hold this view because as a child I too was subjected to racial intolerance but me my parents and family kept our heads down, worked hard, respected the laws and customs of the indigenous population (adopted many whilst keeping some of our own) and got on with it. It made us all stronger in the end. We integrated. ("oh but your not black" some will predictably say, "it was easier for you", let me tell you it wasn?t)

 

However the real point as I see it is that from 5000BC there has been many swathes of immigration to these isles and other countries for that matter. How far does one have to go back to be British? Will it be my daughter? or her grandchildren or never? Were the children of Queen Victoria ever British.

 

The most patriotic Englishman I have heard of late is the footballer Ian Wright.

BGOE, you put it much better than I could. Half of my family came over here as immigrants and to not call my family English is just plain silly.

I'm sure many on here wouldn't have to go too far back in their family tree to find out they are the offspring of immigrants!

From my experiences the British Asian youth are a disgusting set of vermin. The problem is, so are the Caucasians! If I lived in London, and/or had a greater exposure to Black people, my opinion of them would probably be equal.

obviously its tricky generalising, but the only two groups i find unpleasant are young white english males, and young asian english males - the asians from pakistan are usually fine, courteous and hard working

 

plenty iffy 'gipsy' slovaks, too

 

beyond that, other eastern europeans - on the whole - graft their knackers off and my only sadness is that plenty of the buggers reckon its shit here now and we'll be stuck with the ferals again before too long
