A Very Boring Season

Probably the most boring season for over a decade but the consensus amongst the Taffs at the start of the season was that a boring season would be welcome compared to the last one.

There are 70 odd teams in the football league who would snatch your hand off for the season weve just had.

Boring season for us or the whole league?

Either way, id say both.

And our brand of football is more entertaining than the vast majority of that 70 odd. FACT

and I'm not trying to say that Bolton's performances have been freeflowing end to end stuff and entertaining. I am just comparing us to the others and saying "that's football a lot of the time"

I agree with that,

and just what do the fans of these teams think about Bolton supporters :unknw:

Football in general has gone stale, with the holy grail now being Premier League survival because of the revenue, then we are stuck in a circle of survival, we will never win the league, we may get into Europe every now and then but we wont be able to compete cos we have to survive int Prem so cup runs go out the window. This has an effect on us fans the likes of playing United and Liverpool every year has lost the appeal a touch because they too strong and we play em every year now so some folk lose interest,

However saying all that I will renew my ticket because there is nowt like being there when somthing special does happen :good:

I dont think anything special has happened at the reebok this season, has it??

football, you just cant get away from it these days, its seems we're at saturation point.

there was a time when i'd watch anything and everything football related on telly, especially BWFC.

but now, although i still enjoy football (even under megson), other games i can leave. in fact ive cancelled my sub to skysports and setanta because other teams just dont interest me anymore.

have i finally learned that there is more to life that football? ARGH!

Every game somehting special happens I get pished :good:

Indeed you have Homer.

I can't recall the last time I watched the full 90 minutes of any game not involving Bolton - infact I can't recall the last time I watched all of MOTD without fast forwarding to the last 5 minutes to watch our highlights.

The problem is a lot of our fans have been seduced by the false glamour of Premiership football over the last few years. They seem to think that every game should be an exciting spectacle with free-flowing football and sublime skill, simply because we're in "The Premiership" - the self-proclaimed 'greatest league in the world'.

No matter how much the 11 men we cheer on might want to 'entertain' us, there are 11 other men who want to spoil the show, but some people just can't grasp this concept.

Football is a sport, not a form of entertainment. If you go to matches expecting to be entertained on a regular basis, you're there for the wrong reasons. You should be buying theatre tickets not match tickets.

if davies heading the winner v spurs didn't excite you

if gardners goal v boro didn't excite you

if going ahead v arsenal didn't excite you

you're in the wrong place

as posted above, not every match gives you 25 quids enjoyment but the moments that do can't be bought

True thats the best thing that has happened in games. I dont remember anything on the pitch

if davies heading the winner v spurs didn't excite you

I missed Arsenal I was in Florida. But i was there for the other 2 moments. I still think 3 highlights out of 18 home games is poor.

When Shittu nearly killed Downing and when Kevin Davies made Upson cry like a baby also spring to mind as things that have put a smile on my face. Its not just goals and wins that entertain me, i like a good crunching tackle and when the crowd roar with approval i think its superb.

not for a second am I suggesting I want to swap Premier for anything else, i don't

but

watching the penalty shoot out of Bury V Shrewsbury

league 2

loads of Shrewsbury fans packed in behind the goal where the pens were taken

they were well up for it

it looked ace

not been to a match like that in ages

Like I said, you're obviously there for the wrong reasons. If it's consistent entertainment you want, try something else.

I watch Bolton because it's in my blood. Win, lose or draw, no matter what division we're in, as long as the club still exists I'll keep going back for more. I'll be elated for a week when we win, and miserable for a week when we get beat, but I'll never boo the people I'm there to support. Like members of my family, I'll stick by them through thick and thin. Unless a manager or player goes out of his way to purposefully ruin my week, I'll back them to the hilt.

I was just thinking the same thing, and somewhat contoversial, I thought they knocked it around quite well too. Not a great deal of lump it up field, certainly not as much as you'd see at th'reebok

I go for the same reasons as you. I just said I cant remember any other highlights than what you stated

Beating Citeh was fun too

This has again been a transitional season for the club but the fact that we have not been relegated is a major plus point and was the only target this season, if you look at clubs who have lost long term managers such as Charlton with Curbishley they have gone in to a tailspin, I think the club deserves a lot of credit for managing a potentially dangerous situation, we now look stable but a little uninspiring although I feel we are heading very slowly in the right direction, surely it is time to put our concerns an the back burner support the club and get your season ticket, with a few inspired signings and with the crowd behind the team what is to say we cannot perform next season like Fulham have this.

Firts 8 mins against Pompey?
