Take Hunt Off Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Would be a good signing I think , was Boro's best player when we beat them at home has good workrate , eye for goal & gets stuck in Tailor made really.(no pun intended)
HomerJay Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 tuncay was their best player. oneil has average ability, but is very consistant and works for the team. got 'megson signing' written all over him 3-4m i reckon

Gaz Nt Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Good Player O'niel I think. Good work ethic and is a decent footballer. Would be a good squad player, don't really know who he'd replace in our 1st team mind? Mccann?
Sweep Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 O'Neil is a "box to box" player and runs his arse off during a game, other than that, I'm not sure what he contributes to be honest. Of the players that will be leaving Middlesbrough this year, I would have to agree with Homer and say that Tuncay is the best they have. I like what I see of that bloke. I did enjoy, whilst watching Newcastle v Middlesbrough the other night, seeing that Middlesbrough also have their own "Riga" in the form of Emnis (or whatever he's called) - I'm suprised no numpty has suggested we sign him up

After watching Toon v Boro last night I like the look of Emnes. He's got bags of pace and looks to have abit about him. Thats the first time I've seen him mind. He could replace him with the fan's favorite token gangsta, Riga.

Mounts Kipper Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Steady prem player right age, would be good addition to the squad.
Whites man Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 We should sign O'Neill and Wheater from Boro, ?8m the pair.
Henrick_Pedigol Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 (edited) Its in The Mirror apparently... http://www.teamtalk.com/football/interacti...98,3209,00.html Edited May 14, 2009 by Henrick_Pedigol

bwfcbromcross Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I dont think o'neil will bring anything to the squad.
tylswhite Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I dont think o'neil will bring anything to the squad. You rate all of our midfielders ahead of him? Im sure hes better than a few we already have.
Garrp Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 He is perfect to play on the right. Its going to be him or James Morrison (wish it could be Steve Davies) Then Sean Davis in the middle. Were going to have a young, hungry, English squad. Megson Out

Ive seen him creating a few goals as well so he is definatley worth looking at.

RayVon Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Tuncay only one of interest for me! Think we have our fill of workers in midfield
JimmyRiddle Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) Were going to have a young, hungry, English squad. Not to pick you up Garrp but young I agree with, but do they have to be English/British?? Didn't we have our best seasons with predomonantly players from overseas? I think a club like ours needs to cast its net far and wide, and whilst I don't want to turn this into another Megson debate I can't help getting the feeling that these players are perceived as easier to manage and will 'put in a shift' by GM. It may say more about his confidence in managing/handling players than anything else? Edited May 15, 2009 by JimmyRiddle

Fair point and Im not againt foreigners or anything like that (i don't care where they are from as long as they are good enough). but, i think Allardyce said we were never in a position to sign English/British players because of their price.
Guest Holly_Goodhead Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Fair point and Im not againt foreigners or anything like that Why did you say " We're going to have a young, hungry English squad Megson out" If you don't care what nationality our players are?
exiledwhite2 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Tuncay only one of interest for me! Think we have our fill of workers in midfield Agreed, he's a bit similar to what we have for me Assuming we won't have a lot to spend it'd be better used elsewhere
Zozzy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I like Gary O'Neil he seems a good player to me, I have him in my fantasy football team so I have took a bit of interest in his performances this season. Having said that I don't think there are any midfielders out there in our price range that are as good (or potentially as good) as our own Mark Davies. What little we have seen of him I have got a feeling he could be something special if he stays injury free. He has got a lot of energy, is skillful on the ball and got that bit of cockiness that you need to succeed in the premiership. He keeps the ball that bit longer and looks for the right pass. He doesn't show the usual nerves that you would expect for a lad of his age which is often the difference between a decent player and a top player like Rooney for instance. I predict England squad World Cup 2014. Remember where you heard it first p.s. Jimmy Riddle I also don't want to make this into another Megson debate
frank_spencer Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Why did you say " We're going to have a young, hungry English squad Megson out" If you don't care what nationality our players are? When sam signed yet another African people on here were whinging we never signed Engish players and that they wanted an English core to the side. At a guess that is why
