Thinking of heading up for a couple of nights whilst the weather is on the sunny side. Never really bother with this sort of thing but am looking for something close to Windermere for fishing... Anyone know of any decent sites, or any recommend alternative at the Lakes?

Get's me out for the weekend and theres fuck all else happening now the seasons finished. On the whole though, I would tend to agree.

I'm thinking about getting the old tent out this weekend. T'isnt a euphemism.

 

Park Cliffe is pretty decent site, an close to Windermere, but it's abit too catered for if you know what I mean. Has a restaurant on site and bar and toilets that doris can use fert hair irons.

 

Eswaite seems better for fishing but I don't fish so have no evidence to back that up.

 

The best one I've been to is in Bouth, just a field and a brick sh!t house with a sink shower. Cracking views though.

Stayed up there at Easter. Little village called Braithwaite, about 3 miles outside of Keswick on the A33?

 

I don't fish, but the Osprey I saw seemed to think it was a good place to pitch up.

 

Take the bike and get thesen out to Whinlatter Forest. Black and Red mountain tracks. There's even a Go Ape!

The bit that's for families is literally on the banks of Lake Windermere.

 

The Outgate and Drunken Duck pubs are 1 and 2 miles away respectively. Both beltin' boozers.

 

The Outgate has it's own camp site as well.

 

There's another on the edge of Hawkshead, if you fancy a pub crawl there and need somewhere close to stagger back to.

Yeah it looks ok there.

 

It always busy though as it's a national trust site.

Hawkshead is a lovely little place and as you say a few pubs too. Stayed in a house near there overlooking Esthwaite Water. Absolutely wonderful.

Side farm campsite patterdale on the banks of ullswater , last visited a few years ago but a top top site. when we went you could catch trout from the lake and cook them on your camping cooker. only a 10 minute walk into glenridding for pubs and shops or theres a pub just as you turn into the camp site. From glenridding you can do the walk to hellvelyn or do the cruise up and down ullswater.all in all its only 20 minutes drive beyond windermere.

Couldn't agree more especially in the UK, rain, shite facilities, wildlife at it at 5 o'clock in morning, can't even get a shag with the missus if you have kiddies - not good
