Good news!!

the yellow starp line has just gone across the bootom of the SSN screen saying we've signed Za Knight and Sam Ricketts on 3 year deals

Don't much about Ricketss apart from being a Welsh international full back but I think Knight is a good signing to partner Cahill at centre half. I am still concerned about up front. We need to sign a goal scorer in my opinion.

Im sure we ill sign what we need, Meggo has done right in providing cover and competition for the defence, no point scoring 4 and conceeding 5. Im sure he will bring in what we need, :good:

We've got a lot of defenders

We didnt do too bad on the goalscoring front last season the defence was worst so maybe hes just sorting that 1st?

I suppose we will see a couple of defensive departures in the next few weeks, as long as one of them aint Cahill <_<

we failed to score in 18 games last season (47%) which is a terrifying figure. when we did score we seemed to scored quite a few at once i.e 3's or 4's in one match.

i agree our defending was a problem, particularly from crossing positions but hopefully knights 6ft 6 figure will help to combat that.

lee chung yong, if he gets playing time and can adapt well to the premier league, will provide another playe who can provide goals for the team so we don't just rely on hoofing it up to davies or a matty taylor set piece.

with only around ?8m spent so far on 5 players megson will hopefully still have enough cash left for a creative mid and striker which should also go to addressing our goals shortage.

got two decent players there can't see Ricketts playing much just a squad player though my only worries is we have made 4 signings now and i still don't see from the signings anyone who is going to improve our style of footbal ,l we still need that creative midfielder and a striker as our strikers are Big Kev and Elmander 12 goals between them at best. Last season was a one of for Big Kev but im sure we will see one or two more just hope they are the right type of player !

Not too bad. We've actually got players in pretty quickly. Get another striker and a few midfield players in, and we're sorted.

Good post, Jonathan.

Maybe cover for the holding midfield position (Muamba) if we're going to play that style, as well as creative midfielder and goal poacher.

Fingers crossed.

Zat Knight... very good signing. All we need now is striker COYW

Zat Knight is a good signing in my opinion. Better than Shittu and AOB.

------------------Jussi------------------

Steinson Cahill Knight Robinson

----------------Muamba----------------

K.Davies M.Davies S.Davis Taylor

---------------Elmander----------------

This is the team for the 1st game of the season.

I thought being a defender like, Megson was sorting that out first when he came, ie purchases of Steinsson, Cahill, Shittu, (?9m worth). Our defence was poor last season so another ?6.5m on Knight and Ricketts. So thats ?15.5m not including defensive midfielder of Muamba ?5m , Just hope he sorts it rather than collects defenders.

I'm surprised people on here aren't more critical and have higher expectations given the money at his disposal.

And how much is that then exactly?

How much do you think theyre worth now? Definatley more imo, in fact Cahill is probably worth that alone. Shittu was clearly just for cover, Steinsson and Cahill will be first team for years if they dont leave for somewhere bigger.

Credit where credits due,so far Megson has landed his targets and whether we rate every signing or not he has been able to get the players that he wants. This has to be a big positive plus, added to that, he hasn't spent too much. When you look at the other clubs around us they are all scrapping for signings and are missing out on targets. We have 80% of our recruiting done and dusted, for that I give Megson a lot of credit. If he managers to land Bodde or Veloso and a striker then it will have been a top transfer window for BWFC!!!! I am beginning to look forward to the season now, a stronger defence allows us to go away and nick a few 1-0 wins, which we struggled to do last =D> season.
