Managerial Shortlist

Just got me thinking, if we don't pick up any more than a point from our next 4 games, then we would have the same amount of points from the same amount of games as Sammy Lee did from his start to the 2007/08 season.

Birmingham (a)

Spurs (h)

Man U (a)

Everton (h)

At the moment i can see us getting maybe 2 points but not much more, so if Gartside was to wield the axe, what managers would we be able to bring in. I've had a look and come up with a list below which goes from the very sensible to the downright ludicrous.

What do you think of our would be (limited) options?

Phil Brown

Owen Coyle

Stuart Pearce

George Burley

Gary Johnson

Alan Irvine

Nigel Adkins

Simon Grayson

Paul Tisdale

Keith Hill

Gordon Strachan

Michael Laudrup

Diego Simeone

Jairzinho

Did you just say "shortlist"? I'd love to see your long list!

Alan Thompson?

What have you been drinking?

'if' megson was to be sacked im pretty sure they would have someone similar to megson.

so all the non-English managers don't have a chance in myopinion

Sorted, Jairzinho it is then :good:

Maradona would be fun

Most of them listed are ludicrous to be fair.

If Megson is sacked, I think we should go for Ibrahim Ba as manager (stick him on the list)

Just imagine the scene:

Imagine the short period under Sammy Lee never happened. . .

Just imagine, Sam Allardyce was replaced by Megson, who kept us up during his first season. After a few games of his second full season, Megson is sacked by the board to be replaced by that former Liverpool midfield dynamo Sammy Lee. Lee was a Bolton player under former manager, Phil Neal, and so has an affinity with the club.

The Bolton fans, according to the myriad of message boards, are delighted at this change in manager following Megson's uphill struggle against the boo boys.

As is stated in the title of this thread. Be careful what you wish for, the next manager could be another sammy Lee. Where Megson might just about keep us up, a new, previously untried manager, could quite easily take us down.

Ah well, it'll have been Megson's fault!

You missed off Peter Reid.

Errr why's Carlton Palmer not on the list??

Big Ron or Harry Bassett are usual choices when faced with a relegation battle, please add to list.

I thought Richard Sneekes was the hard of thinking's no.1 choice?

Never heard that before; most amusing!

If Megson was to be sacked, the same person who appointed Meggo is the same one who will appoint another.

Dowie is the probable choice. We get what they want, not what we want.

Which, in reality, is where the problem actually lies.

Can the current hierarchy be trusted to find someone decent?

Past form says it's unlikely.

They shit on Todd, got lucky with the Allardyce appointment (3 successive near-misses at relegation!), picked Sammy Lee & Gary Megson.

I'm not suggesting Colin Todd would have been ultimately successful, but you can see a pattern forming.

And also not forgetting, there's a section who hate Gartside & think he is lining his pockets (not sure what from though) & so will not accept whoever he lines up.

As a club we really are on our arse PR wise.

spackman or evans

Is it immature to titter whenever I hear his name?

I can't believe Sourness hasn't been mentioned

I can't believe Sourness hasn't been mentioned

He said on Skysports last week that he never wants to return to management.
