Managerial Shortlist

Just got me thinking, if we don't pick up any more than a point from our next 4 games, then we would have the same amount of points from the same amount of games as Sammy Lee did from his start to the 2007/08 season.

Birmingham (a)

Spurs (h)

Man U (a)

Everton (h)

At the moment i can see us getting maybe 2 points but not much more, so if Gartside was to wield the axe, what managers would we be able to bring in. I've had a look and come up with a list below which goes from the very sensible to the downright ludicrous.

What do you think of our would be (limited) options?

Phil Brown

Owen Coyle

Stuart Pearce

George Burley

Gary Johnson

Alan Irvine

Nigel Adkins

Simon Grayson

Paul Tisdale

Keith Hill

Gordon Strachan

Alan Curbishley

Paul Jewell

Glenn Hoddle

Bryan Robson

Kenny Dalglish

Bruce Rioch

Warren Joyce

Slaven Bilic

Morten Olsen

Hector Cuper

Radi Antic

Otto Rehhagel

Jurgen Klinsmann

Vanderlei Luxemburgo

Roger Lemerre

Luciano Spalletti

Alberto Zaccheroni

Arrigo Sacchi

Michael Laudrup

Diego Simeone

Jairzinho

Romario

Hristo Stoichkov

Antonio Conte

Neil McDonald

Alan Thompson

Mixu Paatelainen

Youri Djorkaeff

Jay Jay Okocha

Gary Speed

Next Hull manager - you heard it here first

Strike Bryan Robbo off the list. He's got Monkey Heeed's old job.

Wouldn't mid alan shearer but he'd only join newcastle avram grant, would have to look at championship managers though like alan irvine i think.

DARREN FERGUSSON

DARREN FERGUSSON

icelandic fella?

DARREN FERGUSSON

Has to be a manager with premier league experience IMO. Too much of a gamble with an untried one.

Curbishley or Strachan would do for me.

Roy Race and he could sign his son Rocky from Melborough!

I hope you've washed your mouth out! :nea:

What about Tommy Brown with Syd Preston as first team coach :p

Much better with Chubby Brown; he'd fuckin' shake up em up

King Kenny of the Kop, hes got plenty of Premiership management experience :good:

Why not do away with the manager's job and leave all decisions to polls posted on here?

NICK JARVIS :drinks:

I am not bothered about getting rid of our current manager but was suprised to see Warren Joyce on the list and even more suprised to see he is the reserve team coach at United.

Loathe him or not, Ferguson usually has a good set of staff around him Mclaren, Sbragia and Kidd all went on to decent managerial jobs.

Didn't they all do pretty badly though

Let's get Bruce Rioch/Colin Todd back or failing that, offer big Sam a big pile of cash = the club can then hand out rose-coloured spectacles on the gate and everyone will be happy.

Until we start losing games, then we'll all be crying out for the good 'ol' Megson days.

And so it goes on...

To be honest I can only think of a handful of managers in the past decade that you can say have done well.

99%* have been sacked at some point

* I made this figure up

McClaren di pretty well at boro then was wayyy out of his depth at England.

He'd be my preference if Megson does go.

FFS no!

FFS no!

I agree, McLaren would not be a popular choice.

How about Peter Reid (now assistant at Stoke), assisted by a recent ex-player e.g. Gary Speed or Ivan Campo?

FFS no!

he won a trophy at Boro and had good cup runs even getting to the UEFA cup final

he's taken FC Twente to 2nd in the Eredivision (their hishest position since the 70's) ahead of PSV, Feyenoord and Ajax and the dutch cup final, further in european competition than they've ever been before.

He was an abject failure as England manager but his club record is as good as Bolton can expect to attract

Peter Reid is to "old school" I think, and I'm not sure he did too well in his last coupl eof jobs did he.
