October 25, 200916 yr 1-3 int Carling 1-1 int Prem, a good point Edited October 26, 200916 yr by Carlos
November 1, 200916 yr Too much respect shown by us. We never pressured the ball. For the first 20 minutes Muamba did a decent job of breaking up play and stopping Anelka dropping deep, but after that they were walking around us and through us without challenge. It could easily of been 3 before the penalty. Jussi man of the match despite conceding 4 tells it's own story. The penalty and sending off killed the game as a spectacle, as Chelsea had all the ball first half and we were never going to step out of our half to pressure the ball. As for that, Drogba should of scored but the instinct of these tossers is to "cheat" and get the advantage of the penalty and sending off. Kevin Davies would never do that. Anyhow, I didn't expect us to get anything from this game, but a bit of commitment and a little less respect would of left Chelsea feeling like they had been in a game and not a knock about.

November 1, 200916 yr Agreed. But you can at least try stopping them by hassling them. By standing off, they just picked us off at will.

By standing off, they just picked us off at will. which we did in the 1st half, keeping that going with 10 men whilst trying to get back into the game is easier said than done. Megson could quite easily have set up 2nd half to keep it to 1-0 by keeping everyone behind the ball and closing chelsea down constanly and got slating for not trying to win the game.
November 1, 200916 yr We sat off in the first half. They were walking through us at will. To be fair though, I am confident they will walk through other teams aswel. Champions this season.
November 1, 200916 yr I thing he's been one of our best players this season & yesturday went to prove it. He won absolutlely everything against Chelsea's midfield, kept Lampard quiet by man-marking him & it was only when Fabrice came off that Lampard came into the game. All I hear people say about him is that he cant shoot, go forward, etc. But he's not on the field to do those jobs which is why we have gardner, LCY, M.Davies etc. I think he does an exceptional job. Is it just me who thinks this?
November 1, 200916 yr One dimensional in my opinion. He wouldn't get a sniff if he was half decent at going forward but couldn't defend for toffee.

November 1, 200916 yr that's like saying Jussi wouldn't get a game if he was good at free kicks but crap at saving shots Exactly! Muamba's a defensive midfielder, and he's very good at being defensive in the midfield area. A bit like Ronseal, he does what's on the tin. He's not Gerrard, nor does he / we claim him to be.

November 1, 200916 yr Well Yesturday his opposite number Essien, one of the best in the world, didnt win half as many tackles. Possibly because he didnt have as many tackles to make, but it just seemed that all I said during yesturdays 1st half was 'Well played Muamba'. P.S. I am NOT saying Muamba is better that Essien.

Got to agree i think he has been exceptional since coming back from under 21s,had a bit of a row coming home on bus yesterday when some one was slagging him off
November 1, 200916 yr Let's not forget some folk used to slag off Anelka for not making pointless 40 yard runs for dead causes, just scoring goals! Tell them to fuck off to 1930 where their understanding of the game belongs.

He had a spectacular 65 mins yesterday and is growing all the time. His distribution was the best we have seen from him to date.

November 1, 200916 yr I thought he was our best player by far yesterday and i just can't understand why he was taken off unless he has an injury?
November 1, 200916 yr I think he was taken off as the game was gone, he played midweek so Meggo decided to give him a rest but I agree with the majority here, he's vastly improved, I just wish we could say the same about Elmander although some feel he played OK yesterday.
November 1, 200916 yr I thought he was our best player by far yesterday and i just can't understand why he was taken off unless he has an injury? I bet the ref was fucking desperate for him to mistime one and get his cards out.
November 1, 200916 yr PS I'm merging this into the Chelsea thread as that's essentially what it's become about.

Having paid 8-12million (or what ever it was) for him playing ok is just not good enough IMO

Champions this season. can't agree with that at all. Lampard and deco barely touch the ball because the y were tightly marked. Why do you think anelka kept dropping into midfield? Were you actually at the game or just pissed?

November 1, 200916 yr eh? There was a Muamba thread but it ended up being just about the Chelsea game so I merged them.

He wouldn't do it as he'd get booked for diving* *Not saying that Drogba did, just that Davies won't be given anything Edited November 1, 200916 yr by Gonk
November 1, 200916 yr Having paid 8-12million (or what ever it was) for him playing ok is just not good enough IMO I thought he was far better than davies on sat. In fact goals aside, if he plays like that every week, I'm unsure what more you could ask of him.
