I thought he was far better than davies on sat. In fact goals aside, if he plays like that every week, I'm unsure what more you could ask of him.

That is the problem people seem to moan at elmo for not hitting the target / scoring enough and yet when davies misses similar chances they chant his name. i really don't understand it

the worst thing to come from yesterdays game is that paul robinson is going to be left back for the next 3 games

It's just a one match ban isn't it as it wasn't violent conduct which is a three match ban?

Come on, you should know the rules about using facts on here by now.

Davies was shit saturday and Elmander looked a proper striker for once, he will score goals if he plays like that more often. You wont get many Bolton fans admitting that any of our well liked players have had a bad game, its like theyve been brainwashed. Cahill and Davies were our worst 2 out of the starters on saturday bar Ricketts who was just all over place at times.

I still fail to see how Ricketts is better than Steinsson.

FWIW I think Ricketts its a bit better attacking but definatley worse at defending, i reckon Jussi will twat him on the xmas do if Megson doesnt drop him

Steinsson deffo deserves a chance in his favoured position imo.

Steinsson got a lot of assists last season, and his final ball was better than Ricketts. As an attacking full back I would definately put Steinsson ahead of Ricketts.

Ricketts had a poor game yesterday made some poor decisions and didnt close the ball down quick enough. I would like to see Steinsson start against Villa.

I think that despite some improved performances the real weak link in our back 4 is Zat Knight. His positional play is poor and there are to many last minute lunges. He is prone to mistakes and he will cost us goals.

Steinsson got 5 assists in 37 last season, This season Ricketts has 2 in 10 games. Ricketts ratio so far is better :pardon:

On the money :good:

Felt sorry for Samuel, as our lopsided formation meant he was often pulled between sweeping behind the centre halves and then trying to catch Ivanovic, who was clearly their first half outlet.

It was a penalty and it has to be a sending off. Shame, but that's the way it is. However, Robinson's tackle was superb.

They are and were streets ahead of us, but I thought we gave it a decent enough effort in general.

Oh and Cohen looked like he'd been in the pub all week.

Tyls you may well be right but from the information I had read it had Steinsson as having the most assists with 6 in 40, none recorded for Ricketts this season but had 3 for Davies and 2 for Taylor. Whether it is 100% reliable I dont know.

In my opinion Steinsson was unlucky to be dropped this season. I dont think Ricketts is either as good going forward or defensively than Steinsson and on balance I would like Steinsson to be given another chance. I wish we had decent competition for places throughout the team as I certainly do not think that Ricketts is a bad player, just not as good as Steinsson on last seasons showing.

ricketts - one assist for ping pong v everton

thats at least one

so, your stats are dodgy

Didnt he also win the penalty against Stoke, which certainly in FF at least gives you an assist.

Shocking defender though.

That and the Everton one are the two that Ricketts has this season.

I agree with Steinsson being unlucky to be dropped because you would expect the player coming in to be definatley better, Ricketts has been better in parts but not totally convincing. Its a very tough call between the two but I think Steinsson should maybe have a chance to see what he can do then we can go from there.

Has done last two matches imo, he could do with a spell on the bench to fire him up again. I tell you one thing though its bloody marvellous having some options, used to be head in hands time whenever anybody got injured/sent off but weve got a nice squad building up now imo.

I think Steinsson is viewed with rose tinted specs by some, he was to blame for goals last season and I believe Ricketts is better going forward, not a huge amount of difference when defending but I think Ricketts is slightly better. Although Gretar often had SKD backing him up, it's not quite the same when playing infront of Chung Yong but that's just my opinion!
