What Has Happened To Our Supporters

Been watching the whites for more years than I care to remember and have often been proud of the Bolton support, one of the main reasons I became a white was of the loyalty noise and passion shown by Bolton fans in the Lever end, it was inspiring, today I have witnessed the biggest shower of shite support from any group of fans than I can remember, the booing of the Klasnic substiution the subsequent you do not know what your doing chants, and then the same when chung yong was taken off and then at the final whistle the booing of Megson was a fookin disgrace, those half wits who think that this type of behaviour will result in anything constructive are mistaken, furthermore should we be relegated this may be a decisive factor, personlly speaking if relegation means that these fans stop coming to games then bring it on.

Rightly or wrongly: that's why my 16yr old won't come to many games. He says it's embarrassing. A few of his mates support Burnley and they were ripping the piss out of him after the game about the booing etc.

and they'll probably not know or have been told by their elders that the Turf Moor loyal eventually rounded turned on Stan Ternant after he had done more for that club than Megson will ever do for bwfc. As I said in other threads, selective memory syndrome.

footballers and managers who take the rewards but whine about the brickbats, blame the crowd simply show they dont possess the requisite character needed in the trenches, and imo should be shipped out.

Sounds like yer average pantomine you went to, not a football match.

For me, if things ain't going right on the pitch, then supporters are entitled to vent their frustration.

I'm sick to death of people molly-cuddling our multi-million pound football stars.

There's people out their in jobs who get more shit thrown at them in a week, than the footballers get in a lifetime.

I'm from the old school era of 'if you can't stand the heat, get out of the fuckin kitchen'.

Worlds gone too soft for my liking.

Do you think any Bolton player who's playing badly , will play better by having abuse screamed at him by people who claim to be Bolton supporters ?

But there's plenty on here who aren't the "werther brigade" who don't think it's acceptable, just look at some of the replies & who they're from. This just comes down to who does & doesn't think it's right to abuse the manager &/or players during the match. It's not blindly follow, it's thinking there's a time & place & to do it during the game puts me in the 'not brigade' & I can assure you I'm not some owd funny duddy who doesn't like swearing or standing up.

that makes it OK, then?

I was sayin that Burnley fans or any other for that fact have no right to take the moral high ground on this one.

Is it OK? Yes...there I've said it! I 've had a long career in industry whereby if I had wasted the resources given to me by the same degree, then blamed others for my failure I would deserve the short shrift given.

So we who then give " the untouchable one" stick are not real fans? Just look abroad and then tell yourself that the Ultras who follow the likes of Lazio, Roma, Inter, Madrid etc etc are not REAL fans of their clubs? They are rightly deemed as those who care most and perhaps its time that we had more of this sort of nonacceptance of downright incompetence in all facets of life in the UK.

They will give managers and players hell if they don't perform, far more than seen in the UK. A few gestures and boo's for GM should be water off a ducks back.

I cannot believe that people side with this sheer rank bad stewardship due to some misguided notion of this is what loyalty means?!!!!

Same difference really.

If people don't like folk moaning when they go to a match, why don't they just fuck off and not bother coming back ?

Bolton fans booed when Klasnic went off truth was he had a shocker, the 2 substiutions had the desired effect we got 1 point when we looked like getting nowt, the no nowts would have booed absoloutely any and every substitution because Megson made that decision fook all to do with the substitution just a pathological hatred of Megson, pretty sure I am as far away from a werthers Bolton fan as you could get, served my time on the Lever end/ manny road and the Burnden paddock and too many away trips in the back of a van than I care to remember and and in that time had plenty of scrapes from 1975 upto present. The truth is it is fashionable nay sheep like to harang Megson, when he goes these people will just move onto the next easy target.

So where the time and place?

I'm pretty pissed off with the whole match day experience & so if it's any help, which it's probably not, I'd say it's getting so I have no problems with after the game or even half time these days if people don't like it, but when I say that I don't mean run to the front of the stand like a deranged lunatic with anger issues. I love my football but for fucks sake, I can only presume/hope there's underlying reasons for some of the anger.

Oh & St. Francis, I hope loyal fans aren't put off by the moaning, but if it makes you happy to be in a stadium with like minded folk then so be it.

Bolton in 3 years have gone from an high to a low. For a few season we were getting used to winning more and finishing top half.

Now we had such a good chance to take it further,Gartside took the easy option with Sammy Lee when we had the chance maybe to get someone better, at that time we had some very good players and even though BSA had left we still had european football to look forward to and that also can attract better players also.

But we have now gone back to fighting relegation, 3 seasons in a row! it's really boring seeing Bolton these days get outplayed and play pathetic negative football[most of the time].

Im not surprised people are booing, it's a way to show your dislike for the current situation, a bit like banners and signs but more vocal. If this was Bolton 10 years ago, i don't think people would boo had our expectations not be as high, it's difficult to cut out the thoughts of what we used to have like UEFA , Top 8 and players like Okocha and Anelka.

I think most players know the boo's are only there because Megson is in charge. If fans show no dislike for what his going on then does this club just wait till Gartside thinks that enough, Megson should of been sacked ages ago, he shouldn't of been hired in the 1st place.

If we actually had pushed on from those good times or tried harder to stay at that level, then im sure there would be no reason for people to boo. Yes booing isn't nice and it would be nice to hear cheering and songs etc all game but that's not gonna happen, most fans really want Megson out and showing support is hard because it's difficult showing support for something you don't want.

Also i think fans are totally fed up with the football being played, take away Lee and Gardner we usually have the same type of players and usually see boring ugly negative rubbish, K.Davies and M.Taylor are both terrible at free play football, neither can control the ball or play at feet, so if we don't win knockdowns or set pieces then our game doesn't work , we can't rely on LCY to make things happen every game. It costs money to watch football, and when you see other teams scoring loads against Bolton, other teams having loads more of the ball than Bolton and seeing Bolton lose a lot, and to see rare wins here and there it's no wonder people find it hard to show appreciation/support.

Some will say, but all that's irrelevant as you should support your'e team through thick and thin, if we hadn't had such a bad last few season from being a good team and top 8 then i don't think there would be anything to moan about and threads like this would not need responses.

This club needs change, it needed it a while ago, little things like rare wins cover the cracks and then fans think we are progressing only to see us lose the following week and it all starts again, it will never stop, the majority rightly or wrongly have made up there mind and therefore it's time Bolton got a new manager and hopefully we can repair the bad feel and negative atmosphere of this club.

Go on then, enlighten us on how that could have been done

If you were at work and a customer came into the office whilst you were working and launched into a stream of foul mouthed abuse because a job was behind time or over budget etc, would that be acceptable behaviour?

oh ffs spencer I know that you take great delight in your disagrement with every single opinion i make, but that is really clutching at straws.

its not behind time or off budget, its totally f?cked. and if i had let them down that much then yes!!!!!!

Well obviously not Champions League, but like trying to get a better manager, and with the position we had ourselves we could of gotten better players[better than we have now] and then we could of had a better squad and not give any manager a reason to do a Megson and what he did Lisbon.

Teams like City and Villa for example were in and around us then but they have had investment, Bolton won't get taken over, so i guess it would be hard with even a good side to challenge top 8, the last 4 months of BSA was pretty poor starting from the Liverpool defeat to Liverpool on new years was when things started going wrong[after 5 staight wins] to when he left, but we still had UEFA and good players, i think we should of been positve and took a better route than a cheap option, from then we have gone like a click of the finger, from high expectaions to once again being little old Bolton and that's very difficult to come to terms with once you've tasted success.

Maybe i was wrong in saying we could push on from the good times, but i think we could of been in a better place now if things were done differently.
