According to NOTW Coyle is interested in bringing Eagles and Mears from Burnley for a combined fee of ?4.5m. He is also intersted in hi-jacking the loan of jack Wilshire from Arsenal (coyle had planned to loan him when he was at burnley)

 

If any of those rumours are true then i would quite happily take eagles and wilshire as they will add some much needed craft into central midfield. However i wouldn't particularly want Tyrone Mears as he's no better than steinsson or ricketts (in fact probably worse)

Yes, twice for the U-21s. He is quick, but lightweight.

Whoever Coyle does sign i will back his judgement because he is the gaffer and its his head on the block. Beckford is a better finisher than Davies and Elmander.

Whenever I see the name Beckford it reminds me of that Patterson back pass, and I get a sickly feeling in my stomach.

I can't remember ever feeling so 'low' as a Bolton fan for weeks after a match than that quarter-final.

IMO it is the position on the pitch where you can carry a player. If the lad scored every match then I wouldn't care. Strikers are there to score goals, if he got half as many in the Premiership, as he would do in league 1 if he finished this season then I wouldn't care if he didn't chase every lost cause, or tackle back etc. Anyway we've got Davies to do that.

To be honest I was thinking about Klasnic when I wrote it, because if we did get Beckford then I wouldn't want Klasnic to be dropped. However for the amount of money that is being talked about (1.5m-3m), then it would bring many options for not much money.

 

We could try both Beckford and Klasnic upfront, Beckford has pace that we still don't have a lot of upfront, it would add competition for places, we might not be able to sign Klasnic permenantly. And if it all failed and he wasn't a success, then we could sell him on, probably to a championship club for at least ?1m and the risk would have cost us around 1 or 2 million.

 

It's all about opinions but IMO the risk would be well worth taking if it was an option.
