mick ramsden Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 lets find a way to get all the tv and plastic whites back into the ground, coyle and his men must do there bit but i am fed with folks telling me "the game"s on in this pub or that pub",we have all been bangin on about poor play and bad tactics, well lets show owen colyle that a new posative style means full grounds, go in the pub after weve won
MickyD Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) Words are easy. Try telling those who now prefer the pub option that: They can't nip outside for a smoke at half time They can't drink and watch the game at the same time. They can't fuck off and buy something to eat that doesn't involve tepid pies or mechanically processed hot dogs. The matchday experience needs a bit of updating. OK, lots of us can remember the Burnden experience with its piss-filled toilets but, for some, it was better than the sterile areas of the Reebok. Lots of folk don't want to sit watching a game; they want to stand. For that to happen there needs to be a mentality change from some supporters and all stewards. In a nutshell, what folk used to enjoy about the game isn't there any more. By the way, I have a season ticket. I never stopped going. I just listen to those who don't still go but were once diehards. Edited January 31, 2010 by MickyD
gonzo Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 good point...ban pubs in bolton from showing home games!! wanderersways please welcome..my dad to the forum!!!
MickyD Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 2 years 4 months and 21 days to think of a first post and he comes out with this. I'd like to say it was worth the wait but . . .
Garrp Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 We should follow the NFL. The game can't be shown on TV, or covered on the radio unless the game is sold out. Once the game is sold out, it then becomes available on the radio.
HomerJay Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Then only man u games would be on telly. I wonder if the us have the same foreign sat problems?

Super Bock Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) There are no decent places to drink around the ground, everyone who attends home games and likes a pint before has to leave the pub well before half 2 (scotts bar and harvester are exceptions)and this may be a reason as to why people don't bother. I know the fanzone has helped with this, but you can only get john smiths, fosters and strongbow in the ground (all are pretty poor in my opinion) I think it would be a good shout to turn one or two of the kisoks in to 'mini bars' that serve a few extra types of beer, even if it's just guiness and kronenbourg or at a push flat cap! This could get more people into the ground earlier and create a better atmosphere, as well as attracting people back out of the pubs if there are some decent beers on show! just a thought, it would be interesting to hear other peoples views on this. Like the Flat cap idea, real ale is the future.
Super Bock Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I'm not so sure I think it could work, if you know that you can get a decent pint before the game and at half time it will improve the match day experience that little bit more. The little things all add up to make a difference.

[/quot Bromilow got flat cap..good food..all live matches..good mix of fans..free parking..good crack
Drew Peacock Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Flat Cap - they make a cock-up of keeping/serving lager and keg beer. God knows what they would do to real ale
Underpants Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Do we actually want 'plastic whites' down at the Reebok?
Guest Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Great to see you finally post Mick, let's hope you post more. Why not tell us a bit about yourself in t'other section, don't be shy Probably ot Ramsdens from Bromley Cross Married, divorced 50ish
bwfcmiskell Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 as much as it is a part of the matchday, i think more than just beer has to be considered when thinking about ways to get fans going back to the reebok
Breightmet Boy Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 like ive said in previous post about this subject, smoking has a hell of a lot to do with it. Warmth, beer, banned mates and you can smoke whenever you want is gonna make it so hard for some BWFC fans to go back to the matchday experience than the pub

This is just another excuse for not going to the Reebok. If you really wanted to go and watch the football you would go whether or not beer was being served. If you can't manage two to two and a half hours without a drink I suggest you get in touch with Alcoholics Anonymous.
MickyD Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I also recall that they'd stopped serving alcohol at Burnden Park for a number of years up to the place shutting its doors for the lst time.

Spider Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 fucking hell I've said it a million times before but I'll say it again. The whols east lower should be a tenner per match for a season. On several conditions: * People can stand * 1 in 10 people are given a distress flare * Several Ultras banners are made and spread the length of the stand * Minimal stewarding - a line of coppers diving the away fans is ok * 1 in 20 people are 20 year old blond girls with massive busters wearing a leotard. * Anyone sat moaning about there being an intimidating atmosphere is dragged to the front row and made to eat 5 seats. You get the idea.
DeaneWhite Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 We already have enough plastic whites at the Reebok. People who never get behind the team, never sing, never stand, constantly moan and then leave ten minutes before the whistle to be the first on the bus/ train/ out of the car park. The very antithesis of the wikipedia definition of "Ultras", see here. Why on earth would we want 3,000 more of them taking up the best seats and keeping ticket prices high for everyone else? If they could get some real ales in the Fanzone, and have it open for night mayches as well, that might be a start. Following the German model of having a super-low priced area for supporters might also help. But there is precious little point bringing more fans in unless it helps the atmosphere. I have been to packed grounds and the atmosphere non-existant. I have been to games where the crowd has been very low but the atmosphere superb. Big crowds do not always make for a good atmosphere. I remember a pre-season friendly at Burnden against Aberdeen. The attendance was only just over 6,000, but the atmosphere was pretty good. I've seen Bury games at Gigg Lane with less than 3,000 with better atmospheres than some at the Reebok with 25,000+. A lot has to do with the kind of people going. There are more families going these days, and while there is nothing wrong with that, the traditional core support has been diluted. Pricing is one factor. Alcohol restrictions and the smoking ban haven't helped. The club can't overturn the laws that contributed, but to have an area where the club's policy is not to enforce sitting will help. Better football on the pitch will also help, but it will take time for people to cotton on and start to arrange their time around matches, rather than fitting games around their own schedules. Semi-regulars will buy season tickets. Occasional supporters will join the membership scheme. The best way to get people coming back is to slash prices for adults. Cheap kids tickets are all well and good, but those over 21 and under 65 are the biggest age group and pay the highest prices. To some, it doesn't matter that the kids prices are low- if they can't afford one themselves, they don't buy their kids a season ticket. When my Dad first took me to Burnden, it was ??8 for him and ??5.50 for me. I know that if it had been ??11 for him and ??3 for me he wouldn't have taken me- even though it would have been 50p cheaper overall! The reason for that is the adult price would have appeared extortionate, given that the capacity figure makes no distinction between children and adults. Children (or "Juveniles" as they were known at the time) paying above half price was the norm. If we had at least one area at say a tenner a ticket (all classes), I'm sure our most vocal support would be in that area. Such an area could also be pay on the day (unless the game is declared all-ticket), as the price would be a nice round figure requiring no change- a ??10 note would effectively be the ticket! The ball is in your court, BWFC!
Guest Frandsen08 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 here it is, the answer to solve the problem get rid of the underage reebok rebels and get fit legal birds doing the cheerleading, we'd be sold out every game. most of the fans at La Lakers only go to see these
