smithills_gent Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 More evidence of what a good record signing Anelka was and what a wank record signing Elmander is.
bwfcol Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I was proud of the players last night. We handled Chelsea's players well, Drogba only got free once all game which unfortunately led to the goal and Lampard only had 1 shot, we gave Joe Cole a bit too much space but we were pushing forward then. I wouldn't say anyone played poorly, Lee worked hard but his delivery was poor. I haven't been as impressed with Taylor as I was last night for a long time. Cahill looked sharper too. Davies did well up against 2 very good central defenders and at times he was very isolated, I liked Wilshere a lot and think playing him off the striker might be more effective than on the left. I wouldn't be surprised if the same XI start on Saturday.
Pablo Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 You played really well, defended as unit. When you play teams as good as Chelsea, you should be putting 8 men behind the ball, and use what you can to get forward. Your one weak point, was you lack of a top striker, Anelka type player. Very impressed with Wilshire too.
Casino Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 i'll say it again muamba was superb lampard threatened just once and that was only cos muamaba came out of position to stop terry coming forward with the ball him and ricketts looked like a midfield nowt clever, jkust functional giving us some solidity, which allowed wilshire to roam taylor worked hard the disappointment was lee, but i think thats just tiredness and him maybe not being an unknown anymore - maybe let weiss loose down the right wing at stoke
Tombwfc Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I'd take just a few marks off considering that was the 10th time in the last 13 games we failed to score a goal. I can't imagine a team with Ivan Klasnic in ever doing that! Is this the same Ivan Klasnic that hasn't scored a goal since Megson was in charge? He might be a better finisher than the other two (although I wouldn't have backed any of them to have scored Elmanders chance last night), but he's not free-scoring. At least, not in the current Bolton side anyway.
Happy Wanderer Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 Muamba is getting better and better as he gets the games under his belt.

Eddie Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Muamba is class, he is more key than Cahill. Said this the other day, Muamba is our key man. Very few neutrals will have realised how good he was last night as it wasn't a noticably brilliant game. Lampard rips us apart every time he plays us, but I only realised he was on the pitch on about 2 occasions last night. Muamba did not leave his side just like he didn't leave Gerrards side earlier in the season. We HAVE to keep Muamba in the summer and if we do then the Midfield looks very strong, with Holden and Davis coming back, and Ricketts proving that he can be used there if needed. And if we can get Wilshere for another season then I don't think we even have to think about signing another midfielder. As for the match last night, I'm still fuming now. How he hasn't given a penalty for that handball is beyond me. Like somebody else has mentioned I was impressed to see that Coyle has a plan B, the starting line up confused me but it worked well and was very effective. As for the Klasnic or Davies debate, I too think that Klasnic should be playing a lot more, but Davies was the only choice to play up top on his own last night. His presence at set pieces is pretty much the only way we would have scored last night and therefore he had to play.

His presence at set pieces is pretty much the only way we would have scored last night and therefore he had to play. If Ward plays next season, Davies will get more than 10 goals. He can cross with pace with both his left and right peg. Poor sod has to feed on a meagre diet at the mo. Wish someone would show Elmander a picture of Sir Nat heading a football. Or even Wyn Davies. He always drops his head at the last moment which means he rarely gets his forehead on it properly. Witness last night.
Guest bwfcdan Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Enjoyed the trip last night. Wernt many of us but tried to get a bit of an atmosphere in the away end. Thought the lads worked there socks off, we we're ripped off. The shite part of the day was the trip home, first the M4 closed, and then the M6, divertded to god knows where. Didnt get back to Bolton till quarter to 5. Shattered now in work. But happy with the whites. Bring on Stoke. COYW!!
Guest Frandsen08 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 like many have said muamba was brilliant last night, lampard barely had a sniff. terry is a moaning twat. muamba is my player of the season, young jack played well, possibly his best game for us. the amount of times Davies put the ball in the box and if we just had a top class striker im sure it would of been a very different scoreline. well done to the lads who made the trip

wovlad Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Good performance, made Chelsea look ordinary at times. Not to disappointed about the goal it was a great ball first time ball in from Drogba who aside from his 1st half handball was ineffectual by his standards. Likewise Lampard 1 shot in the match, he usually gets more penalties than that, excellent man marking from Muamba. Hope it has'nt taken to much out of the lads, for if we play like that against Stoke we might just come away with 3 points
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 the difference he makes, not long after he came on, a ball that came into the box was sent just wide by him There must be some reason why TWO managers in a row prefer to play the other 2 strikers, or a lone striker, than accommodate him. Also, that sentence you've just said - yeah, brilliant, he came on and only just missed. That'll get us points...
HomerJay Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 his use of ricketts was a masterstroke, one i'd like to see again Ricketts seems miles better in central defence and as a holding midfielder tham he does at full back. very much agree.
MickyD Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 All things considered, and not withstanding the penalty claims waived away, I think 1-0 at Chelsea is a fairly decent result given that playing down there could easily have destroyed our goal difference compared with the goal differences of Hul and Burnley.
