I got a txt "3-0, even Dickov played".

and would you believe it carlos, he's still a cunt, he was kickin off with cahill at one stage.

Thats an option - playing blake is quite like 4 5 1 anyway as he plays deeper.

I think we are woefully short up top though

If we play SKD, we need someone quick enough to get flick ons or make a run beyond the last man.

Blake isn't that.

We are too slow up front to score against Premiership teams except from dead balls.

It was more than apparent at the end of last season and so far, we haven't got it right with our own players or bringing in a new face.

I think we are already shaping up as being too toothless, 1 penalty against Rochdale and nothing against Oldham. Nothing against Rochdale and Oldham but we should be able to do better than a penalty (dubious) goal in 180 minutes against lower league opposition. Klasnic made so much difference last season and stood out so much because prior to his arrival, a lot of our goals came from midfield and Gary Cahill. We need a proven goalscorer.I dont see Nugent, Utaka etc. as the answer.

yeah agreed, any strikers come to mind who you think we could attract and afford?

I ain't arsed where the goals come from. If SKD ends the season with single-figure goals but has 20+ assists, big deal as long as some fucker's scoring.

My money will be on Petrov to be our top scorer this season.

I went last night fully expecting Coyle to have changed our tactics and got us playing football on the floor. But it was the same old lump it up to Davies. He doesn't do flick ons. The ball just skids off the top of his head. Cahill and Knight are not effective together. They both leave it to each other and so nobody defends. The first goal was down to Cahill not tackling, if we can get 15m for him , take it. The only area in which we outplayed Oldham was fouling. Had it not been a friendly we would have picked up quite a few yellow cards and a couple of red ones.

For those calling Elmander you should watch the build up. Bolton attack, Davies has the ball, Elmander moves into an attacking position but Davies is so bloody slow that by the time he thinks to pass the ball, it is too late and the defender is back to cover. That is why we need Wilshire back or someone like him with a quick football brain.

Careful Biff criticising Davo is strictly verboten!

Elamander work better without Davies IMO but no manager would survive dropping Davies if the result of the game didn;t go our way. so it's not worth the risk to OC.

We are going down  I cannot believe people are moaning about a friendly. If you are stupid enought to pay and go and watch you deserve all you get. Friendlies are all about fitness and the players/manager dont give a shit about the result or performance. Look at spuds the other year they scored something like 30 goals and won every game in preseason and ended up bottom for ages until Harry Redknapp saved them.

3-0 against Oldham is a bit pathetic, but a pre season friendly is much more about fitness, conditioning and getting the team match prepared for the new season, the result is a bit of a shocker, but it shouldn't have a bearing come Fulham and will easily be forgotten by us, maybe not Oldham, but we beat them 1-0 when it mattered thanks to Vaz Te.

If pre season is so unimportant how come you remember so much about another teams pre season two years ago??

I have never known a footballer who didn't care about the result of any game he played in.

That was a bad result last night and must make the manager think long and hard about his team.

Coyle out ???

It was only a friendly !

I was being ironic. Maybe I should point that out in future in brackets either side:

[OPEN IRONY] Coyle out! [/CLOSE IRONY]

Does that work? :D

Whoever we buy in thr striker dept, we'll be taking a risk. We can't afford a proven Premier League goalscorer, so we'll be signing someone we 'hope' will bag us goals. Nugent at least has experience, even if his game is limited. Utaka has proven that he's not a 20-a-season man. Not in England anyway. But he does offer something different to what we have.

Wouldn't want either though to be honest.

The result could well be a blessing in disguise it will concentrate minds and may result in a little bit of money spent and the players havaing a reality check.

I'd like to commend and heartily agree with the above post.

Teams dont need a 20 Goal a season striker anymore. You just need to shore up your defense.

Cahill obviously doesn't work with Zat Night, mak a change their. Defenders are easier to come by than Strikers.

Build your solid back line, and solid midfielders, and your can easily get 10 a season from Petrov, Lee Chung, KD, and even Elmander.
