John Mcginaly V Kevin Davies

interesting one I was thinking about earlier

Supa John played in a totally different era, when players owned pubs in the town they played for and pretty much went on the piss with the fans on a Saturday night after a match, he was a hero and no mistake

but what about Kevin? Have you ever been more proud of a Bolton player? played for England after all the bad press that's been thrown his way about his style, just plays and gets on with, sets up a charity for kids in Bolton, is as proud to play for us as we are to have him and seems to be getting better with age

let's mass debate over this one

guess there's no real answer, it's like in Robocop - "Can I not have you both?"

probably too late though

answered your own question really,

both bigger legends than frankie worthy for me (who was my first centre forward idol)

although i never saw him play, Sir Nat will take some knocking off the no1 spot.

same as i said on t'other onethumbsup.gif

Big fish small pond scenario.

I'd have the Jock in a punch up though

i think SKD would probably get the better of SJM in a queens rule punch up, but could see SJM biting SKDs ear and gouging his eye, in a no holds barred scrap.

it'd be like watching a fight between Amir Khan and Begbie out of Trainspotting

oh i dont know.

I'll do a Cheryl Cole and not choose between either.

In the boxing ring SKD for scoring goals SJM, both Bolton legends and both top fellas.

SJM nicks it on legendary status with the fans and a talisman for the club, he got the tattoo done nuff said

SKD nicks it on the footy side having played at the very top for over 10 years

so can't split em

McGinlay was a more prolific goalscorer than Davies albeit not in the Premier League. It is difficult to judge between them as they both had/have different styles of play and the team way of playing was different.

Both quality for Bolton, but SJM will always be my favourite I think

Cheryl might say that she'd have 'em both, which would be a great prospect

Super Mac for me.

McGinlay always went out on the pitch with a right-hook looking for a home and that for me puts him ahead of Davies.

ok put it this way in an all star bolton eleven over the last 20 years IMO opinion you would have to put Anelka upfront as one of the strikers? (debate in itself) but for now just say he is a given who would you have to partner him SJM or SKD? i would have to go for SKD!

Irrelevant to this thread.

This is a toe-to-toe nose-to-nose on who do you prefer out of the two and not a best partnership debate.

Ok fair do's, now it may be my age as i was around in the burnden days when Super John was plying his trade, i still have the reading game and the charlton penalty on the last game fresh in my mind both rate very highly as outstanding moments in my Bolton Wanderers suporting life but for his abillity to perform constantly at the highest level Kevin Davies would take the crown for me.

Think it was Smiffs who once said that McGinlay is the only man alive he would buy a beer for and let him shag his Doris all in the same night.

At school whilst learning about religion i was like you can shove your ten commandments up your burning bush SJM is my god!

as my grandad said he was probably the Nat lofthouse of my generation but i cant knock SKD he is fantastic wears his heart on his sleeve and will give everything for this club and its community, i've had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and he is such a nice guy. my mum said the only man she would cheat on my dad with is SKD. make of that what you will but SJM gets my vote.

John Byrom - Byrom - Byrom

Out of the same mould.

john mcginaly almost single handedly bought us out of the wilderness.

kevin davies has almost single handedly kept us from returning to it.

to make a decision would be like shagging my wife and thinking of her best mate at the same time.
