does any one really know why we get only 18000ish home fans at home when on tv .it dosent happen at a lot of other clubs.we are from the clevelys area and we cant wait to get there for a game like spurs at home, and to all the tv whites -- you dont know what you missed....

As long as I've been watching them we've always been a 23k max club. Back in the Frankie Worthy days, which I suppose was the last time it was good, 23-24k is all that we got then. Thank god we didn't build a 30k plus stadium that's all I can say.

we should be getting more, and i know its been covered on seperate topics on here before, but a team on the up,premiership status for a decade,we should be getting more.

but wether the reason be,matches shown in pubs, tickets prices etc,we never will.

the one agrument for not attending is that 'its a ball ache to get to from bolton etc' i cant for the life of me understand and is without doubt a piss poor excuse.youve had 12 years to get to grips with it and were not exactly playing on mars, this is mainly because i and prbably 20+ others have made the trip from blackpool week in week out for the past humpteen years.not to metnion the lancaster whites and them from even further afield.

must admitt, its a poor do when we dont sell out for the munichs....

to be fair, travelling 40 mins from blackpool is not a lot more than 20 mins from breightmet.

i agree that the location of the stadium is not a valid excuse for not attending though.

i think we could up our attendances if we had a sustained period in the top 8, or reduced season ticket prices to blackburn /wigan levels

We lost a generation of fans to the big clubs by being shite for a while. It's too late to get them back now because their decision has already been made.

Whether we like it or not, our attendances will continue to be low as long as Wigan, Blackburn, City are in the Premier League.

So they will go up if they are not in the Prem? Didn't see them increase when City and Wigan were bummimg around in the lower leagues a few years back.

It is. The problem we have is that it's a massive town in a sea of massive towns.

Often 8 or 9 local teams are all vying for support in the Premier League. added to that a plethora of smaller teams, also looking for local supporters.

Then look at Newcastle. The only premier league team within quite a few miles.

Sunderland? I take your point though.

I tried looking on Google for the distance between Sun'lun and newcastle. Problem is it said 186.7 miles but it was thinking I wanted Newcastle in Ireland and I couldn't be arsed resetting the start and finish.

isnt bolton the biggest town in the country?

No it isn't, it seems to be one of those urban myths (limited to just the Bolton area)

As for attendances, we are just a small club, and as stated above, even in real glory times we've never mustered more than 23K~24K folk. If we continue to perform well, we may get the attendances up towards 25K for a few home matches, but we'll never get many more, even if Blackburn and Wigan both dropped out of the division. We have a good "core" of support of around 12K I would suggest, with anymore than that just being floaters who come and go.

I don't go as much as I used to due to it being a 372 mile round trip, and frankly I can't be arsed spending all that time sat in the car when I already spend too long in it during the week. If I still lived in/around the Bolton area I would still go on a regular basis though.

We will get a better idea of our home support after the next 2 home games, which are both cracking games Newcastle/Blackpool, I am sure there not on TV, both away teams will sell out, we should sell out our home section for these 2 games should'nt we?

will blackpool get the full allocation?

will blackpool get the full allocation?

aye, there was a link to a BFC forum somewhere and they've got 4500

mi geordie mate was telling us Newcastle haven't got the upper tier, like Utd, clubs won't let them have upper tiers this season due to persistant standing, Wolves shafted them on their allocation as well, gave them cock all - he seemed to think the allocation they got for ours was only 1800 but am sure it'll be the whole lower tier

Its got to be the amount of Local teams in the area, and bigger teams people choose to support.

I have had Wigan and Blackburn flyers through my door, advertising season tickets !!

All's I can do is use Liverpool as an example. Maybe its because that place has had plenty of Glory, so an unfair comparison.

But kids in Liverpool eat, sleep and breath football. Almost every kid wants to play footy, kits everywhere, kids playing football on every street corner. I read of both Clubs going into School's, doing loads of Community stuff, and even other sports.

Bolton as a place, just does not seem as passionate about football, maybe its the other fans and the other culture's that cause this.

im a coach at liverpool academy, and we go into school all the time all around the north west and liverpool is the most passionate, all the kids want to play football, not interested in anything else and its what the schools promote the most. other places focus more on athletics something to do with grants and free crap they get from the government relating to the olympics

I dont hear of read of Bolton Scouts / Coaching staff doing THAT much in Bolton Schools. Maybe their lies ONE of the problems.

think it's because newcastle and man u have previous at PL grounds up and down the country - it's the standing in the upper tiers they're bothered about

I would say so, yes. Lack of after care, and further educational support....But that's another issue.
