But if you see the footage, it is very close in and he definitely plants something into the turf with his left hand and pats it down with a teaspoon with his right hand.

Does he do that in both goals? Only the first action is different from the second angle.

 

He doesn't 'pat down' in the first. Also in the first he looks up whilst still hunkered down. In the second shot he stands straight up.
