Owen Coyle

Featured Replies

I noticed in Happys "Barclays statement" thread, that Owen Coyle has now been in charge for 38 Premiership games for us - his record?

Played 38 Won 12 Drawn 11 Lost 15 = 47 points

Not bad, not bad at all.......happy days :good:

So far so good. Proved he was the right man for the job an Phil made the right decision - if a little late.

Be good to see what he can achieve should the squad remain intact in the new year.

let's wait until the end of the season before getting carried away.

we don't know what will happen in the transfer window ...

what suspensions / injuries will occour...

if i am truthful, we had a superb november, before and since we have been as we were last year,

plenty games where we don't score

unable to keep a clean sheet

give the ball away too easy

if it wasn't for late goals v stoke and rovers we would be a lot lower down the table.

only observations....

better than the last man in charge , but still room for improvement.

awaiting abuse.

If it wasn't for dropping points late on to teams like Everton and Liverpool we would be....

This time last year we were a mess on the pitch with the players scared to try anything and the atmosphere in the stands was poisonous, just think back to the Hull game. We've come a long way.

Fook the points, people actually turn up nowadays expecting to be entertained.

The thing that made me realise how far we come was the atmoshphere at Wolves away this year compared to last year. Fooking hell it was horrible last year! Really really was horrible. Didnt feel nice at all. Noone was getting behind the team. Everyone was getting angry at the players/at the manager/at the stuff. Just everything in general.

This year however, this year at Wolves away was fooking amazing! Probs my favourite ever away game, although Stoke away last serason with them 2 late Taylor goals comes close, but this year was class.

That made me realise how far we have come.

Owen Coyle! Thjnak you!

Indeed and we've failed to score in 4 league games so far this season, the same as Chelsea and Sunderland

There's being grounded and looking for negatives where there aren't any.

let's wait until the end of the season before getting carried away.

No abuse, pal - you're allowed your opinions.

However, I do think there's a glass-half-empty thing going on here...

In my glass-half-full world I see a newfound confidence about the team under Coyle's stewardship, and a long overdue buzz in the ground...

I see us battling back from 2-0 down to Brum and Blackpool to gain good points in the circumstances - showing real belief and resolve...

I see other teams (and the sporting media, fwiw) taking us a bit more seriously and giving us the credit we deserve for our football ...

And but for some daft injury time defending at Goodison we could be even higher up the league.

Always room for improvement, but given where we've come from where we were 38 games ago, Mustard has very few complaints. :good:

I think we have only failed to score in 4 league games.

The game isn't over until the ref blows the final whistle so it doesn't matter if we score in the first thirty seconds or the fourth minute of injury time.
