Dont get me wrong Gonzo, when i was young and daft, Bolton used to hold there own down NP, i got a few slaps.And i cant recall Soul Boys coming up in numbers to BP in my lifetime.

totally agree,but as in a good read,and not a load of bullshit and never being ran etc,that book exceeds any its field.at least in parts they own up to being done over etc.plus i know the authors are credible.

I was working in Torquay in 74, and decided to go to the Cardiff v Munich to meet a mate what was coming down for the match. It was fucking mayhem in the city, they ran the red army ragged after the game. Still have a drink with the same lad to this day and have a laugh.

steaming in was the first one I read. never finished any book dedicated to just one club because all are just jam packed full of bullshit - especially a chelsea one which was just laughable.

Scally is by far the best one i've read.

An intellegent man who weighed all up sorts of social and phycological reasoning behind what happens wrote about it subjectively rather than 'there were 10 of us and we ran 100 of em, we never run, blah blah wank' bollocks.

 

No book has ever even come close since.

 

Plus (if I remember rightly) he was a champion sausage maker (in a non gay way).
